I don't mind seeing the others alone, but I don't want to spread the content too thin.
Precursors is a sci-fi universe. Plenty of humans, a handful of aliens. You've got the Terrans, and the League, the two main groups of humans. You've got the Sooni, a genetically engineered race, yet a race all their own. The NorAellians, the obligatory reptilian race. And... the Grey, the far too creepy dark race.
And you've got the drama, the battles, and all the explosions you could ask for.
And some REALLY excellent characters.

Personality: Simon is a very sadistic individual. He loves causing others
pain, but relishes it more when there's fear involved. He's very intelligent, and quite suave, when he wants to be.
History: Simon was a serial killer, driven by the need and desire to be loved. He killed because he was told to kill by Sylvia, his 'true love'. Everyone believed her to be a figment of his imagination, but something has kept him perfectly preserved for over 100 years... His obsession with Sylvia corrupted the man who was called Jonathan, and created the man called Simon. Somewhere, inside his mind, or perhaps his soul, Jonathan is still there, soft-spoken and gentle.

Relationship to:
Lizbeth: Lizbeth is a 'creation' of Simon's. He has the power to reorder the
universe in such a way that a person existed when, truly, they did not. Most
of his creations are flimsy shams that have very little substance. Lizbeth,
however, is as 'real' as anyone else... and she still persists, even without
Simon's help.
Emerwyn: Simon sees her as a toy, something to corrupt, to break, and to
destroy. However, a remnant of him, the part that is still Jonathan, not Simon,
is in love with her.
Ginerva: He appreciates another 'artist'. While it would be 'cheating' to
think of Ginerva in the way he would really like to... he does admit to having
an 'affinity' for her.
Rekonin: He doesn't much care either way about Rek. She's either a tool, or
simply a means to an end.
The Praetorian: Simon doesn't loath him, as much as he is frustrated by him.
They have clashed for as long as Simon has been alive.

Personality: Lizbeth is brash, overbearing, and sulky. Despite her harsh nature, she deeply cares about people. She doesn't feel that showing emotion is weakness; rather, she feels weak because she doesn't know how to express most emotions. She is also very seductive. She could have any lover she wanted, male or female (though she prefers the latter). However, when she meets someone she genuinely has feelings for, it's difficult for her not to come off as just silly.
History: Lizbeth isn't 'real'. She is a creation of Jonathan Simon. He has the power to create someone, and then reorder the universe in such a way that it is as if they've always existed. At least, that's how it works in theory. In practice, all his creations are hollow, empty mockeries of life. Except her. She is the only creation that was perfect. Moreso, she's the only creation he can't undo. That is both her blessing, and her curse.
She is a mercenary, but a mercenary who only accepts jobs forwarding causes she believes are right or just. As such she's both loved and hated by many. But she doesn't mind being hated... it means she's made a difference.

Simon: Liz both hates and pities Simon. She knows how deep his darkness runs,
and she wishes something would save him... or kill him.
Emerwyn: Liz believes she is in love with, or at least is more than a little attracted to Emerwyn. There is a good deal of tension there, of her own making. She would be with Emerwyn,
if Emerwyn was ever open to the idea.
Ginerva: Liz doesn't like Ginerva, and mostly just wants to stab her in the
face. Twice.
Rekonin: Liz views Rekonin like a younger sister. She's very protective, and
very concerned about her.
The Praetorian: Lizbeth loves the Praetorian, but frequently tries to ignore
that. She views her feelings as tragic, and hopeless. She'd much rather latch
onto someone else then him... but in quiet moments she does let herself shed a
tear or two for him and herself.

Personality: Emerwyn is graceful and soft-spoken. Life, in its purest and most beautiful form, is her deepest passion. She makes it her life's work to revive this philosopy in her 'dying world.' She is very empathic, too, very sensitive to others' feelings. If only she respected her own feelings more...
History: Emerwyn was raised on an agricultural planet, amongst trees, plants, and an open sky. She fell in love with it, but over the years, began to learn about the world outside her atmosphere. After her father left home to find more financially beneficial work, Emerwyn left as well, to find answers to many questions. In this journey, she met some Pirates from the Core, who inspired her to take on a similar lifestyle. She now targets political and business heads who threaten the sanctity of life in the galaxy.
She never thought much about her own destiny in the universe. At least, not until she met a Stranger in the dark...
Relationship to:
Simon: Emerwyn both loathes (as much as she can loathe anyone) and pities Simon. She feels that even he is redeemable, particularly because Jonathan still exists. But she fears him, too, because of what he's already done to her, and what he's capable of doing to anyone.
Lizbeth: Liz was the first one Emerwyn could openly and honestly speak to. She cares about her, but is very uncomfortable with Liz's forwardness. She battles with the thought that maybe, just maybe, she might return some of those feelings.
Ginerva: Emerwyn and Ginerva differ on just about every aspect of life. Ginerva treats life as a tinker toy, to be experimented on, and discarded. Emerwyn is disgusted and bothered by Ginerva's views and actions.
Rekonin: Emerwyn is greatly endeared by Rekonin. She has a pure innocence and fascination with the world that can only be described as childlike. Emerwyn is convinced that very much of Rekonin is human, and tries to assure her of this.
The Praetorian: The Praetorian started Emerwyn's journey into the mysteries of the universe. She looks up to him, but feels a sort of sadness about him, an old sadness. She turns to him for guidance and wisdom, for he is older than many of her precious trees...

Name: Ginerva Mackenzie

Personality: Ginerva is a disturbing person in many ways. She is sadistic and cruel, and seemingly indifferent about her choice of 'victims.' The most disturbing thing by far, however, is the manner in which she performs her little experiments. Her exceedingly high-pitched voice chills the strongest man, even more can be said for her laugh, sharp, piercing, and inhuman. She takes great joy in all she does, in the manner of an over-excited school-girl.
History: Ginerva is a Terran, raised by both of her parents, though she insists she raised herself. She was incredibly intelligent, sailing through her education, going on to become a scientist, specializing in biochemistry and genetics. She works for the Terran government in these fields as a head researcher, where she is given much free will to perform her unorthidox and inethical experiments – provided she doesn't threaten Terra itself. So far, she's come dangerously close...
Relationship to:
Simon: Simon seems to share her passion for pain and darkness. For that, she finds affinity with him. Simon treats his 'work' like art – for that, she admires him. Simon doesn't seem to appreciate just what kind of things he could do with his power and brilliance. And for that, she finds him irritating.
Lizbeth: Lizbeth is the culmination of all that makes Ginerva angry. She is loud, obnoxious, has no respect for talent or intelligence. And, despite her roots, and abilities, actually cares about what other people think. She's a contradiction, and should be studied, then destroyed.
Emerwyn: Emerwyn is more of a potential toy to Ginerva. She's strong-willed, but she is also emotional and weak. Ginerva sees her as an emotional punching bag, for when she's bored.
Rekonin: Rekonin is fascinating. She bears the qualities and mannerisms of a human, but is oh-so much more. What perplexes Ginerva is she strives so hard to be something lowly and pathetic when she can obliterate a planet with hardly a thought. She requires far more research.
The Praetorian: Ginerva does not know The Praetorian in any way, other than a shadow that tickles the back of her neck. Needless to say, she doesn't like it.

Name: Rekonin
Goes by: Rekonin

Race: Artificial Intelligence (Biological)

Personality: Rekonin is very... innocent. She doesn't understand many of the
basic social intricacies that most humans seem born understanding. While she
doesn't have trouble understanding emotion as a general concept (she does have
the full range of emotion) she has trouble understanding some of the
consequences, and some of the emotions she has never felt before. She is a
very lovable, innocent 'girl'... until she or someone she cares about is
threatened. Then she looses the mask of humanity and becomes what she truly
is. A weapon, and instrument of war. A warship capable of destroying an entire
planet.
History: Rekonin was designed and created as the most advanced warship ever
built. She was tested for two years by a team of scientists. One of them, Eva
(known to Rekonin as Control),
was assigned to teach Rekonin to understand what it means to be human. In a
traitorous turn by the chief researcher, Rekonin was almost given to the
Terran government (sworn enemies of those that created her.) With the help of
Lizbeth, Rekoning stopped them from stealing her, but was forced to kill Eva
to save save others.
Relationship to:
Simon: Rekonin feels like he has the potential to be both very dangerous, and
very useful. Mostly, she accepts him in the same manner Lizbeth does.
Lizbeth: She views Lizbeth as a very close, very dear friend. Rekonin is
still confused about if she ever loved Control, and since Lizbeth 'saved' her,
those feeling were partially transfered to Lizbeth. She doesn't openly admit
to any such feelings, but she wonders about it sometimes.
Emerwyn: Rekonin sees Emerwyn as something to be protected, and as a possible
friend.
Ginerva: Rekonin dislikes Ginerva, and would have no qualms killing her if
she ever tried anything... but there's no animosity there, unless Ginerva has
done something irritating.
The Praetorian: Rekonin doesn't know what to make of him. Mostly, she just
accepts he's there, and moves on.

Personality: A deep, often religious, always profound warrior with a sense of honor and nobility. Somewhat tortured by intelligence he is unable to divulge.
History: Head of League Intelligence for over a decade, highest clearance in the known universe, suddenly resigned for unknown reasons, has spent the last several years (decades even) acting as a free agent.
Distinguishing Marks: a scar under his right eye - as though carved by an acid tear - runs from his lower lid to the level of his lips.
Relationship to:
Simon: The Praetorian knows that Simon's obsession with Sylvia is perhaps the most dangerous relationship in the universe, and acts to limit Simon's monstrosity at almost every turn.
Lizbeth: Liz is the most important person in his life. She is his enlightenment, and his greatest fear. She is his deepest desire... and that hurts him deepest of all.
Emerwyn: He views Emerwyn as the daughter that was killed. He loves her, admires her, and strives to guide and protect her.
Ginerva: The Praetorian... does not like Ginerva. He does not fear her, but rather sees her as a child who has obtained her father's gun.
Rekonin: The Praetorian played a large role in the creation of Rekonin, so he knows her intimately – on a purely technical level. As for her whimsical personality, he finds her quite amusing.

Things to note:
Focus:
Lizbeth, Simon, and The Praetorian can use something called Focus. To put it simply, it's The Force (Of Star Wars) meets magic. It's powered by the will. And the stronger your will, the better your Focus. Each use it in their own way. Simon uses it to kill people gruesomely, to see what he wants them to see, etc. Liz uses it to be one bad-A fighter, The Praetorian uses it beyond that which any can imagine, twisting even time itself.
BONUS CHARACTERS!!!
Sylvia: Simon's love, and a Jyse (a.k.a. a really powerful being who needs a body to be truly powerful
biggrin ). Evil *itch, who has a strong hold on Simon, and in fact made him what he is today.
Gregorie: Colonel Gregorie Petrovich Harkov, of the Terrans. Surly and resigned to his life, which is not about to change as long as the Terrans are still around. But VERY true to his duty. Has made it his goal for the past two years to capture and bring in the pirate Captain Emerwyn Achenson. They have come face to face several times.
David: Captain David Case, of the Archigos II. Friendly to all of his comrades, yet permanently attached from them. He is half Sooni, his father being Admiral Mackenzie Case, and his mother a Sooni. He has a sister, Glyse, who is full Sooni. Can use focus, to a devastating degree.
Sean: A rather evil-type of fellow. Was always constant rivals with David, and hated his own humanity. He eventually abandons his humanity forever when he is captured by the Grey, and using their living technology, becomes some sick and twisted hybrid. Constant goal is for power and respect, and to put David in his place.
Kaeya: Worked closely with David on the Archigos II, which is a ship made with some of the living Sooni technology. Full Sooni ships need to merge with a living being in order to work properly, so when the Archigos II was under foreign alien attack, Kaeya sacrificed herself, merging with the ship. In essence, Kaeya died, and is now the Archigos II. She is still the same, but ... different.
Those are all the characters I have drawn of yet.
Here are the rest I'm working on:
Glyse: David's sister, and full Sooni. A passionate heart, yet resistant to the pressures placed on her by her people. She was fortold to be their savior, but she wants nothing to do with that destiny. Has a -very- close relationship with her brother.
Admiral Case: David's father. A seemingly hard man at first, but he's truly just a great commander with a heart of gold. This does not stop him from making the tough decisions when he has to, though. He cares deeply about both David and Glyse.
Louis: An incredibly brilliant hacker, and member of the League. Liz views him like a little brother, and is very protective over him. He's also close friends with David.
*He eventually becomes captain of Rekonin. The first captain, for she went very long without one. It was always her dream to have one, and she and Louis form a very interesting relationship out of it.*
Brown Clover & Rusty: Emerwyn's right hand men on her ship, Spring's Endeavor. Rusty is the engineering chief. He's smarmy, sarcastic, and a bowl full of laughs. Brown Clover is more of the silent type. But he's very good-natured. Each of them would give their own life for Emerwyn. And each of them almost have.
Seamus: Ginerva's cousin, and probably the reason she's as twisted as she is. Seamus taught her almost everything she knew growing up, but also manipulated her, tormented, and even tortured her, if mostly mentally. But mental damage is far more damaging sometimes... Is also obsessed with Ginerva, and furious that she left him when she went to school, and joined Terran Intelligence. He swears he'll get her back.
He is currently the 'don' of a huge Terran 'mafia.'
