Welcome to the Ology: OC art contest!

INTRO

First off, thank you so much for visiting! This will be my last romp on Gaia, and so I am offering everything I have hoarded since I joined the site. I logged on today after a year of not logging on, and I think that it would probably be better to give my items to people who would actually get some use out of them!

PLUS! There are some surprises here!

The reason I am running this art contest is because in December, I will be self-publishing the first issue of my comic book with these OCs. I want a guest artist section in the back of the book, and the first prize winner WILL BE published in the comic book. And if you want, I will send you a copy of the comic, free of charge!

FAQ

PLEASE NOTE! I don't care if our styles are POLAR OPPOSITES of each other! I know that the anime style is WAY more popular on here, so that's completely fine! If you look at the fanart folders in the photobucket galleries you can see different people's take on the characters, and I don't think any of them look like my style, and I LOVE them. I wouldn't want a bunch of art that's my style anyway, that wouldn't be fun!

Q: What mediums do you accept?
A: Anything and everything! I love traditional, digital, macaroni art, anything you can think of! Keep in mind that a nice scan is better in this case for publishing purposes.

Q: What size should my entry be?
A: Anything is fine, I might need to crop the image if it doesn't fit in the book, but we'll cross that bridge when it comes to it.

Q: Do you prefer chibis or full bodied characters?
A: Don't care! I am cool with both.

Q: Is there any content you don't want?
A: Not really. I mean, please follow the character's bios, but I don't really care if they're a little OOC or whatever. Oh yes, and please don't make random pairings with the characters. That wouldn't be cool lol

Q: Can I enter more than once?
A: Yep. But you know, quality over quantity etc etc

Q: Can I win more than one prize then?
A: No :C That wouldn't be that fair.

Q: Who's judging these?
A: Myself (Bailie Oliver) and I know at least 6 of my IRL friends are willing to help.

Q: You have like no girl characters D:
A: Yep. I know the majority of Gaia is like FEMALES but uuhhhhhh sorry. I don't care if my guys look more girly than normal.

Q: Vlad is fat. Fat people are gross. I don't want to draw him fat.
A: Ok. If you don't want to draw Vlad as a fat fatty here are your options:
1. Don't draw Vlad.
2. Find a way that you can draw him not fat.
Vlad is FAT. You don't need to draw him as fat as I do, but you know, he's bigger so I'd try to draw him that way.

Q: Yaoi?
A: Uh...sort of. I mean yes, they're gay, but lemme put it this way...they don't dress like girls. I don't have 'semes' and 'ukes', because that's not really how it works in the real, gay man world. They were boxers not panties. They have body hair.You can call it yaoi/boy love, just don't associate the stereotypes please.

Q: What DO you like? What will help me WIN BIG?
A: I enjoy cartooning and anime MORE than realism (unless you are super amazing at realism. Like super amazing). I am fine with anything from a Disney style to a Ren and Stimpy style. I DO NOT CARE if your entry is colored or not. IT CAN BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SKETCH EVER. That's A.O.K. I love drama and I love fluff. I love violence. I love CRAZY MONSTERS. I really like feet (not tickling of feet) and rainbows. Gay pride pictures are totally ok and would be great.

Hair: His original hair color is black, but he dyes his mohawk, eartails and ponytail pink. Sometimes he can he seen with a rainbow colored mohawk.
Eyes: Blue
Other Facial Features: Upturned nose, giant eyebrows. He also has a hard time shaving, so he has small patches of hair all over his face.
Skin Tone: Tanned, Mexican complexion.
Height: 5'6"
Build: Kind of chubby, he weighs 160 pounds. Not fat, but not all too fit.
Misc Features: Septum piercing, nostril piercing, 7 earrings and an industrial piercing.
Clothing: I don't care. Plaid patterns, rainbows, t-shirts, converse shoes, knee high socks, anything punky and/or kind of gay looking.
Accessories: He usually wears a spiked collar necklace or one of those tattered looking scarf things. Likes giant glasses. He also has 5 frenum piercings (these are genital piercings).

Personality & History
Bailie is a hopeless romantic, first off. This is very important. He's desperately in love with Vlad, who's his best friend. They've been best friends since he was 8 years old when Vlad moved to the USA from Russia. Vlad wants NOTHING to do with his romantic advances towards him. He plays guitar (a Gibson Holy V) and sings in his band called "The Chupacabra's Lunchbox", he also writes all the songs. He pulls a rickshaw as his day job, around Boston for tourists. He is extremely excitable, has a friendly and good natured personality and is a natural cook. But despite all of his happiness, he is usually disappointed. His hopeless romantic nature is his most dominant trait, and since he can't have the one he loves, it makes him sad. Vlad teases him, and allows him to kiss him and hug him sometimes, and then pushes him away. Bailie doesn't smoke, and he only drinks lightly because he gets tipsy easily. He is a virgin, and is homosexual. He takes a lot of pride in his sexuality, and wears rainbows often and participates in parades and events.

Hair: His original hair color is blonde, but he dyes it green. His blonde roots usually show through from the top of his head.

Build: Overweight. 260 pounds.
Misc Features: He has a monroe piercing, a lip piercing, and eyebrow rings on both eyebrows. He has earrings on the bottom and top of his ears.
Clothing: I don't care. Usually sports a black pinstriped suit with a pink tie and pink shoes. He is usually always wearing the little pink shoes. He like turtleneck sweaters and jeans too.
Accessories: He also has n****e rings, a belly button ring, a prince albert, a frenum piercing and a guiche piercing.

Personality & History
Vlad moved to the USA from Russian when he was ten years old. He the assistant CEO at Crown Records in Boston, and his job is to interview aspiring bands and chose who to sign to the label. He's grumpy, but loves to go out after work to the clubs and have a few drinks with friends. He drinks fruity drinks and martinis, and he smokes quite a bit as well (he smokes out of a cigarette holder). He tends to sleep around, he's kind of a bit of a slut, but he always uses protection and is careful about what he does. He is an open relationship with Josh. He is a busy man, but when he has free time he tries to get in as much personal time as he can. He likes to study up on cryptozoology whenever he can in his apartment on Newbury Street. He drinks lots of lattes and he speaks with a moderate Russian accent.

Josh is an honest, hard working guy who owns a small coffee shop called "The Thunderbird Cafe". He started the shop up himself, and he works hard to pay off his loans and to send money to his family in Ireland. Josh is very intelligent, but never went to college. He is in an open relationship with Vlad, but he really wants to go steady with him (and not share). He likes Bailie's company, but the two of them are like oil and water. because of their relationships with Vlad.

Personality & History
Rott is a little frightening at first. He's the bassist and/or guitarist in Bailie's band, and he's also a pretty famous DJ in the speedcore/gabber music group. He owns his own record store, but it doesn't get much business (since CDs are kind of old school), so instead he spends most of his days watching B movies and helping Bailie write the lyrics to their songs. He is a great listener, even though he talks an awful lot, and he and Bailie are very good friends. He and Bailie have been none to get closer than friends sometimes, but nothing serious.

Martini was born cycloptic and an albino because her mother lived in a nuclear desert in Russia when she was pregnant with her. Martini tried her best to fit in with the other jackalopes, but it was to no avail. The other jackalopes don't like her, even though she's become a renowned inventor who specializes in robotics. She created Rex. She is great friends with Bailie, and is the drummer in his band. She loves iced coffee, performing, drawing and playing video games with friends. She's maternal, kind and sometimes worries too much.

Bailie and Vlad:
. Bailie and Vlad are best, best friends. They help each other with everything and go to each other when they need to talk or need help. They are very, very close.
. Bailie is in love with Vlad, but he mostly keeps quiet about it. Sometimes he attempts to 'get the ball rolling' so to speak, and usually Vlad rejects him. BUT sometimes, if Vlad is drunk usually, Vlad will let him hug him and sometimes kiss him.
. YOU SEE...Vlad doesn't completely reject the idea of him and Bailie dating. He just doesn't think it's a good idea, since it could ruin their friendship.
