1. To participate in this contest, you MUST have a deviantART account.
2. All entries MUST be uploaded on deviantART and once they are, send me the link either in the thread or in a PM. (This is because I will add all entries to my group dedicated to the book).
3. DO NOT use these characters or claim them as your own.
4. Any entries that are not sent from DA will NOT be included.
5. This is a COUPLE contest, so only post artwork of Blaze and Crystal together. It doesn't have to be romantic, but that is preferred. They definitely have to be interacting, not just sitting there.
6. NO SEX SCENES. Making out is fine.
7. Not everyone will win a prize, obviously. I WILL send all people who enter a llama badge on deviantART, though.
8. No arguing or protesting the rules. I am nice enough to give away free gold, so if you can't respect my wishes, get out.
9. Any visual media or style will be accepted. I do prefer non-anime, but that doesn't mean a chibi won't win me over if it's awesome enough. Just feel free to wow me biggrin

I know that some of these rules are not the norm for art contests, but I am running this contest for the sole purpose of promoting my book, so PLEASE be courteous and follow the rules.

[Crystal the Rebel Mage]

Deliverance is the name of the novel I have recently published online. I have worked on and off on this book for four years. The contest is featuring the heroine, CRYSTAL and her love interest, BLAZE. You will be entering couple art of them.

The story is set in a kingdom known as Cierith where the people are persecuted and live in a dictatorship under the king of Daldussa, Bogdan. A cruel and vicious man, Bogdan murdered the king and queen of Cierith ten years before the story starts while, unknown to him, their young daughter watched. The princess was hiding in a secret area of the throne room where her parents were murdered. The king asked his general, Gavril, to hide with the princess and instructs Gavril to protect her with his life should anything happen to them.

After the general and the princess tearfully watch the king and queen die, they escape with a group of Cierithian soldiers and flee to a nearby village. Three days later, several Daldussan soldiers track the princess to the village and burn the place to the ground in an attempt to kill her. However, thanks to Gavril and the other Cierithian soldiers, some of the villagers are spared and the invading soldiers are killed. The princess also survives, but Gavril convinces her to fake her death in the village so that Bogdan will not kill any more innocents looking for her. The group then flees to the Dwarven mountains in the south to start a new life.

In the ten years since the invasion, the princess adopted a new name, Crystal, and she has trained under Gavril for sword skills and under Thaddeus, her mother’s magic mentor. With a combination of magic and swordplay, Crystal starts a rebellion known as Deliverance and leads those brave enough to stand up to Bogdan to overthrow him.

Bogdan also has a son named Blaze who he taught to be a merciless ruler just like him. For three years, the father and son have been hunting down the rebels and plan to make an example of all those who oppose Daldussa!

Crystal
Age: 20
Height: 5'5" (5'6" with her boots)
Weight/Body Type: 125 lbs/Slender, but well toned.
Hair: Light brown/wavy
Eyes: Green
Primary Weapon/Skill: Magic/Pendant/Short Sword. She uses magic most of the time and has a crystal she fashioned into a pendant that controls her powers (hence her alias). She uses her short sword for defense.
Description: She wears a blue and gold robe that she leaves open down the middle at the bottom for better movement, an aqua blue sash, a god belt, gray tights, thigh high brown boots, and a black, long sleeved mini-dress underneath her robe.
Personality: Highly mature for her age, intelligent, brave, and kind, Crystal starts the Cierith liberation in order to take the throne from King Bogdan. She is loyal and loving to her friends, and would do anything to protect them.
History: Crystal's home was invaded by Bogdan, and she witnessed him kill her parents when she was only 10. After Gavril escaped with her, he trained her to use her sword and Thaddeus trained her with magic. She began Deliverance when she was 17 and with time, the liberation grew rapidly. She started by freeing halflings that Daldussans enslaved, including Maryn and Taryn. She soon became well-respected and loved by all her comrades, just as her father was.




Blaze
Age: 23
Height: 6'0"
Weight/Body Type: 205 lbs/ Athletic and well-toned (he's not big and burly but he's not skinny either. In other words, DO NOT draw him as a skinny bishi guy or whatever the @$#& they are called. Think Altair from Assassin's Creed---> click)
Hair: Black/layered and messy (he cut it himself)
Eyes: Ice Blue
Primary Weapon/Skills: Longsword. He tends to be reckless in battle and is always the first to charge forward.
Description: He cut his own hair after joining the rebels and so it's a little jagged and spiky on the ends. He wears a white shirt, a faded blue jacket with metal shoudler armor, brown gloves, brown boots, a brown belt, and tan pants. He also has a tracking mark on the left side of his neck. ( >click here for closeup of tracking mark< )This is so the rebels can keep an eye on him.
Personality: Blaze is arrogant, reckless, sarcastic, and slightly chauvinistic to boot. He is quick to make rude remarks, expecially to Crystal and Gavril, but once he starts to change for the better, he is very protective of Crystal and quite amorous with her as well. He is slightly perverted at times.
History: Blaze is the crown prince of Daldussa, but after Bogdan abandoned him, he joined the rebels. He was raised to show no mercy in battle and always strove for his father's respect. He helped to keep the citizens of Cierith in fear and under control by burning down villages and leading raids to find the rebel hideout. He was also a bit promiscuous before joining the rebels, but he soon found himself falling for the very rebel leader he's been trying to capture for three years.

One day Crystal's magic teacher, Thaddeus receives an urgent message from his older brother, Malcolm. Malcolm is the High Elder in the City of Magi, a city full of mages that is loyal to no kingdom, and he asks the rebels for help after receiving a warning that Bogdan plans to invade the city. After the rebels arrive in the city, they learn that Bogdan wants to steal an artifact known as the Eye of Gaull, which will give Bogdan god-like power and make him unstoppable. Crystal agrees to defend the city and the other rebels do the same.

Meanwhile, Bogdan finds out that the rebels are in the city when one of the cities elders, Saitar, informs the king of this. Bogdan is at first angry, but then decides that he can destroy the rebels once and for all after he grabs the Eye. He then gives the traitor elder fake plans to give to the other elders to throw them off.

However, once Crystal sees the plans, she knows they are fake. After the invasion of her own kingdom, Crystal knows that Bogdan would not make a plan that is so obvious, so she asks Malcolm if she could guard the Eye personally. After Malcolm agrees, they begin preparations.

On the day of the invasion, Saitar leads Bogdan and Blaze, through an underground tunnel into the city while the battle is going on between the armies. When they enter the chamber where the Eye is, however, they are ambushed by Crystal and her friends. Crystal challenges Bogdan to a one-on-one fight, and other fights break out between the others as well.

"Brute strength is overrated. With the right skills, a doe can defeat a lion."

(Hence the contest title.)

However, the battle ends with Saitar placing a binding spell on Crystal and knocks out the others. While Gavril is distracted by this, he is disarmed by Blaze. Just when Bogdan is about to finish Crystal off, however, Malcolm and Thaddeus show up to take control.

Bogdan then grabs the Eye and tries to use it, but Malcolm threatens to kill Blaze if he does. To everyone’s shock, especially Blaze, Bogdan laughs and says he doesn’t need an heir anymore now that he is about to gain the power of the Eye.

Before Bogdan can use the Eye, Malcolm then shoots an energy beam at it to try to grab it from Bogdan, but the wicked king resists well. As a last resort, Malcolm then sacrifices himself to split the Eye into five pieces and shoot them into the sky. He informs the rebels that he sent the shards across Cierith and that they must find the shards before Bogdan does before he dies.

After the battle is over, Saitar and Bogdan teleport away but leave the unconcious Blaze behind. Crystal is convinced that she can persuade Blaze to join the rebels after what his father did, so they bring him back to the hideout.

After Blaze awakens, Crystal asks him to join the rebels. Though he laughs at her initially, he agrees that he wants revenge on Bogdan and decides to join the rebels just for the extra help.

So the rebels then begin preparations to find the shards of the Eye of Gaull before Bogdan.

Crystal gives Blaze the benefit of the doubt, stating to her friends that Bogdan raised Blaze to be the way he is, so if given the chance, Blaze could become a good person.

After several adventures together, Blaze begins to become more comfortable around Crystal, but it takes him a while to realize his feelings. To Blaze, a heart has always been a weakness, so he doesn't think he has the ability to love. But soon the two find themselves growing closer and Blaze not only realizes he has a heart, but he gives it solely to Crystal.

BLAZE: He is straightforward when he shows his feelings to Crystal, but he isn’t pushy. When he kisses her, he’s very passionate and usually uses his tongue too. He is a guy who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to show it, but he doesn’t force Crystal into anything she isn’t comfortable with. Even though it kills him sometimes, he waits for Crystal until she’s ready to give herself to him.

"I promise I won't seduce you . . . unless you want me to."

CRYSTAL: Blaze isn’t a virgin, but Crystal is. She loves Blaze with all of her heart, but she grew up in a somewhat sheltered environment with no sexual tension towards anyone and so when she meets and falls for Blaze, she isn’t familiar with any kind of physical attraction. When Blaze kisses her or shows any kind of romantic attention, Crystal will be blushing and kind of nervous (in an excited way at the same time, though).

"'You'd better not try anything,' Crystal warned.
'I swear I'll keep my hands to myself. You can even tie me up if it will help,' Blaze replied.
'Nice try.'
'It was worth a shot.'"
