Welcome to Gaia! ::

Lhanae, you must try them. I just ate like a whole bag. I love you trader joes D:
I have about four novels in the mix right now, all of them ideas that have been refined, edited, restarted and refined some more. Two are on hold, and I'm only restarting this one because I just really want to write something epic, so I'm taking a break from my very un-epic fantasy deconstruction.

*throws love at Trader Joes...even though they always discontinue my favorite products...where art thou, Organic Root Beer? crying *

And wow, that's a lot. =O I used to have a whole file filled with story ideas I would use someday (I remember the count reaching past 20), but it all got deleted when my old computer crashed and had to be reformatted. I can kinda remember them, but ugh, I've never been good at remembering and memorizing, so a lot of those ideas are gone now. =|

Probably why I find letting go of my very first novel idea (and the same idea I've been editting and refining for around 8 years) hard. Ah well~ xD
That sucks D:

I used to have a lot more novel ideas, but I decided to merge/zone in on the ones with the most potential, or that would just be most fun. And I don't see any point in letting go of something you've worked on for eight years. I mean, c'mon, it has to have some potential if you've kept at it that long...

My longest-kept story idea is only five years (since I didn't really write novels before I was 12 xD)
Well, I took a lot of breaks from it, believe me. One time, I let it go for 3 years or so, and then it came back to me. xD I started writing and posted it in Fictionpress (like Fanfiction.net but for original stories, if ever you don't know) back in 2005-2006, but was unhappy with it and scrapped it. >.>; Now, I'm slowly building up on it, and have even done really rough chapter drafts and charts, but nothing solid.

My main problem with it is the beginning. I can't find one that's gonna draw a reader in. I have a middle and somewhat of an end, but the beginning? Nada. >.>; I'm close to getting it at least a lil decent, but like I said, I'm on break, so I'm not thinking about it that much. =P

I'm currently just drawing characters here and there~ I dunno, so that I'm not letting go of the story completely? xD
Best advice for drawing the reader in: start where it gets exciting. You can cover anything else that previously happened later, if it becomes relevant.
I know, I know. >.>; I actually have an idea already, but I still have to fix it, since the events that are supposed to follow after were written with the old beginning. I wanna keep the same events (albeit a little different, of course) while integrating my new beginning without it seeming detached. That's where I'm having a problem with. =|

*sigh*

I think I'll start fixing it when I go back to the mountains. The porch in my house there strangely is where I can write the best. That is, when the wind isn't blowing too hard and it's not freakin' freezing. D:
