Self portraits in photography - What are your views?

I agree, myspace shots are usually NOT art.

i haven't checked out the photograph section yet, but i believe that a self portrait can be art too. of course it depends on the photographer. and most of those myspace pics are not art at all. but selfportraits r usually a way of expressing a feeling, an idea or just how u see yourself. and artist often make selfportraits! it is important.

Having a collection of self-portrait photos, (it was a photography assignment) it's all about how the photo is taken.

Art is not a snapshot of yourself for Myspace/Facebook/whatever.

A true self-portrait simply states, "This is me."
