Kimihiro Watanuki is a high school student plagued by yōkai, spirits with a strong attraction to him. The spirits are invisible to others and encounters with them are extremely troublesome. When he stumbles into a shop that grants wishes, however, events in his life promise to become more unusual.

The shop is owned by Yūko Ichihara, a mysterious and beautiful (sometimes playful) witch of many names and esoteric renown. For a price, she offers to grant Watanuki's wish to be rid of the spirits. The price, according to Yūko, must be of equal value and so, as payment, he temporarily becomes Yūko's part-time employee.

Watanuki's job consists of small errands dealing with the supernatural and household chores. His love interest, Himawari Kunogi, and "rival," Shizuka Dōmeki, occasionally join him in his work as per Yūko's request. The three become increasingly close despite Watanuki's annoyance with Dōmeki. ~ Wikipeda.org



Yeah, I pretty much realize I'm about a year (or two?) behind on this one, but whatever.
I just got finished watching this series, and the Kei part.
I LOVE it!
I'm not even sure why, since the genre is certainly not my norm,
but it's pretty much my obsession at the moment.
It was just so...not overdone.
And the characters, I can actually REMEMBER the names of them!
Now that, folks, is a rarity...for me, at least.


Soo, anyone think they'll continue on with the anime series, or leave it as is?

i love holic i think yuko is pritty razz id marry her any day yeah anywayz it has a great story line and its related to tsubasa and lots of other clamp stuff yeah i also recomend reading tsubasa the book is better than the anime at most times the anime skips out on bits.

There is the crossover OVA with Tsubasa right now (xxxHolic Shunmuki, along with Tsubasa Shunraiki), plus the xxxHolic movie (which also crosses over with the Tsubasa movie).

As for a 3rd season, I'm not sure. I doubt it will happen though.

And yeah, I just recommend the manga. You don't really see the crossovers in xxxHolic and Kei.

it shows a lot of japanese customs and beliefs!!!

there are also lessons you could learn,,,

and the art and theme is just so fantastic!!

i watched the movie and season 1... i'll begin watching the kei part..

and it was announced that xxxholic would have an OVA!!!

The story is enjoyable, and told in a unique way. Almost more like a novel, and you can enjoy the charm of the characters without it taking away from the overall messages of each encounter that occurs. The fact that it examines a lot of supernatural phenomena, urban myths and legends, and mythology and ideology makes it really neat for me. It has combined my three favorite subjects! Philosophy, Culture, and Anime! xd
But I also think that some of the stretched out character designs puts off some people from wanting to watch it. I suppose that's to be expected though. Most people freak out over different things. I just don't care, its the story that counts, and their stretched out demeanors symbolize (to me anyway) the exaggeration of reality. But that's just how I view it. ^^;

I'm not sure if you've been told this already in this thread, but there's an OVA that's come out called:
"xxxHolic Shunmuki" and there's only 2 episodes, but it looks pretty neat. Any more adventures with these guys would be interesting anyway. 3nodding
