Saw the raw today as well, not disappointed. Glad they kept a lot of the conversations in. I was thinking they'd cut a lot of Natsuhi's stuff, glad they did not. First twilight was good, a nice creepy shock. Jessica's reaction was realistic but I was disappointed in Battler's. Sure, it was the typical "Oh god! Oh no!" but come on main character. Your step-mom is dead. Your DAD is dead.

Overall, good episode, animation's fine for me, never held too high expectations. Really hit me during the dinner scene though, none of the Ushiromiya's look related. Jessica looks like her parents and Maria and Rosa are ok but that's about it. George, not really. Rudolf and Battler, hell no. The siblings? None of them even have the same color of hair. Whut.

I think Episode 2 was better than episode 1 at least. It also had the same inconsistencies as the VN. So it helps make them obvious with it's slightly wider/different audience. Do they plan to fit all the other twilights in next episode? I don't really mind, I'm waiting for the metaworld.

As much as I want to see the metaworld I hope to god they don't cram all the twilights in the next episode would just kill the pacing of the entire anime. I figure or at least hope they do the at least two maybe three twlights next episode at max. If they cram all it will lose all suspense which i think made the visual novel so good.

Got to agree most of the siblings don't look like there parents then again there a theories about all that.

Being a large fan of Higurashi, I was really excited for Umineko when I heard it was coming out as an anime. I haven't read the visual novels (I've only got a pathetic understanding of Japanese), but I got the gist of it from Wikipedia. So far, I have to say I'm not disapointed. I figured on animation I couldn't expect much from Studio DEEN, but it's better than Tayutama at least. I like how Kinzo sounds like a twisted old man, and though Maria's whining grates against me sometimes, she's elsewise well-voiced, in my opinion. Kanon sounds dull and mechanical, and Battler and George sound somewhat unique, but all the other voices seem to be rather similar to me. Still, the first episode got me interested in the story, and the second episode got me hooked on watching it 'till the end.
Though I do have to agree with Queen Clubs, Battler's "shock" wasn't really as convincing as Jessica's, though I'm interested to see how George will be next episode.

I don't think we get detailed discussion or thoughts, if we don't even get proper grieving from Battler. So it only has action and condensed key conversations to carry it, right?

I think episode 5 due to fact Bern and Lamb get a pretty huge part in the op it will shift to them being antagonists.

I've heard a two guesses one being 5tan being Bernkastal maybe Bern becomes a piece. lol I also heard maybe it's younger version of Lia. The rose idea actually sounds interesting and does make sense somewhat.

Well been spoiling myself with the translations of the screen shots of episode 5. Seems there may be a better explanation for 5tan then rose seeing as it isn't stated if she is fantasy or well completely fantasy. I think episode 5 is going to explain quite a bit or at least destroy some of the established theories.

Now that I started thinking i believe they could do episode 1 in 5 episodes the fifth being ???? and Tea Party.

I have to second the 6 episodes is too long unless your including in those 6 the ???? and Tea party in which they each get their own episode.

I always figured after reading the number of episodes planned that the sixth would be the ???? and Tea Party etc. But I've started second-guessing a bit because aren't the other episodes, specifically like 3, longer than 1? Though I guess with some smart cutting it would work.

If it's set for 26 episodes I'll be interested just how many episodes they will give to each episode. I honestly think 3 was shorter for me then episode 1 only i think episode 2 and 4 where noticeably longer for me in my opinion.

I'm surprised it got one (a canyon or something). Seems to cut out a bit early though. And seems quite badly done compared to most. Nothing to actually feel though.
