I only watch subs... I reckon it's partly a question of habit however I don't enjoy dubs. At all.

i like dubbs on some anime but i like subs more

I prefer Subs, the anime shows must be original heart

Both have pros and contras
SUB
pro: they come out a day after the realese, you can fully understand the whole story (well, if they give help on japanese culture, which they mostly give), you get a bit knowledge of japanese language (YOU CANNOT LEARN IT only by watching subs, but e.g. its a good addition to a japanese course)
contra: you have to pay attention to both the pictures and the text, the text covers the screen

DUB
pro: you can hear the voices, so you can fully concentrate on the movie and you watch it mst likely in your mother languages (well, not always) which means no unknown words/expressions
contra: there are mistakes and some puns are lost during translation, sometimes they also mess up the voices (not appropiate gender or age), they come out later (mostly months after the release) or they dont get dubbed at all (mostly smaller, not so popular ones)

Altogether I think that the subs are good to watch (altough I watch mostly in subs, because of the timing), but the dubs (if they are done well) are lot better

This is my signature. Really.
I prefer dubs only because I find it quite hard to watch the actual anime if I'm busy reading huge sentences with translation notes that tend to dissappear within 15 seconds.
The only time I watch subs are when I have to if it's really worth it and there's no dub. If it's an absolutely terrible dub (Such as Comic Party Revolution, I swear my ears were bleeding.) I wouldn't even bother with the dubbed version.

I'm not picky. I like both subs and dubs. Especially with there being quite a few well done dubs out there.

Why are fansubs better then official subs?

For several reasons actually:

1- Fan subs are aimed towards and made by the hardcore typically. So they give more of a literal translation and being that I have studies Japanese for a number of years I know enough to tell if the subs are inaccurate. Where as commercially done subs tend to generalize the translation, often completely changing what is being said.

If you have studied Japanese for a number of years, shouldn't you be able to watch anime in Japanese without any subtitles at all?

Not really, I mean i can hold a conversation with a person, I can understand the gist of what is being said in most anime or JDrama, but usually they are talking very fast or using a lot of slang or using words here or there that I don't understand, so it can be hard to keep up. I am by no means fluent if that is what your asking.

sometime i prefer watch'n anime in subs, other times i watch it in dubbes, but i guess it just depends on what i'm watch'n and whichever anime sounds good either in subs or dubs razz

Merry Christmas Everyone

I like both, I like subs because it's authentic but then I like dubs so I don't have to read subtitles.

I prefer subs

Dubs. I'll watch subs if I have to, but I generally prefer to watch it in my own language.

The Official Kyon of the Belltower
Subs, obviously. Dubs tend to be horrible, unless you're watching it in japanese (with no subs, duh).
It is true, though, there are some animes that have been dubbed and they are actually better than the original seiyuus with subs. An example of this would be Cromartie High School.
Other than this example, I'd say the subs always outshine the dubs and watching anime becomes more enjoyable.

=)
