I found the Black Cat anime disappointing, but I've loved the manga since I started reading scanlations of it way back when it was still new even in Japan.

the alternate timeline I could have lived with. the fact that after about 10 eps of meandering slowly they cut the intended episode count down from 52 to 23 (with an extra ep added the second runthru) and thus had to rush the plot and character development leaving them relatively flat was a disappointment. what I liked about the manga was how they played with tropes, but the anime reduced it to just flat, unplayed with, tropes that you can find in just about any shonen action series out there. and the Eden arc should have never been made. it has no relationship to the manga canon, not even the sequel novel relates to it based on what I could find out about it.
