Last Exile isn't my favorite anime, but it's easily in my top 10. I was really fond of the art, and I thought the story was pretty impressive. It's still one of the first animes that I recommend to people... especially people who say they don't like anime.

Not sure if I have a favorite character, but I had a strange love/hate thing for Dio.

Yeah, my brother isn't too much for anime (actually he's not much for TV period) but I got him loving Last Exile.

That was true for me the first time I saw Dio. I was like "O.o Ew he's gay I don't think I like him". But early this year when I bought the series and watched the whole thing I totally fell for Dio >w<

If you like Range Murata's art style , you might like Yoshitoshi ABe, he did the art for Serial Experiments: Lain, NieA under 7, Haibane Renmei and Texhnolyze.

Sounds cool! I'll be checking those out. I actually had a Lain profile theme on my profile not long ago but I didn't know what Lain was, I just thought the profile was cool. Right now I'm checking it out, watching the beginning theme to Lain on youtube.

Lady Aliyah: Avakar is right. Basically it just has a lot of Range Murata's art on the DVD covers, as well as various stats on the airships and vanships and so forth on the inside of the DVD covers.

Dravack and Avakar: Blue Sub sounds interesting, however, I'm broke right now.. that's why I say I'll keep it in mind. When I get a job I'll check it out, maybe buy it.

yay for someone different. So far the focus has been on Dio as a fav. I liked Lavi but I was more of a Tatiana fan. I enjoyed that relationship a lot

It's probably one of my favorite "recent" anime, if not my favorite. It easely beats anything I watched in the last 3-4 years.

I always loved when they mix time periods like that. I love how they mix the knightship philosophy with areal wars. Steam punk usually mix european medieval era or feudal japan with modern or futurism, but this mixes european renaissance (the whole infantry thing fighting in ranks) and WWI era (the vanships feel a lot like the fighters of that time) with modern/futurism.

I dunno, I just fell in love with the whole setting right from the start. Not to mention how great the animation is. I don't understand why this anime wasn't more popular.

I didn't like Dio from the start. I think he is really arrogant and annoying. But later I thought he can be a good friend and companion of Claus. He has grown up a little, and I was starting to like him. (I really like the episode of his birthday smile ) And then... well, you all know what happened. sad

Well thats because he is! lol I mean he can't go 3 seconds without talking to either Luciola or Claus lol. Well I guess I'll talk about my favorite fight scene which would have to be when Luciola & Maestro Delphine's servant fight. I couldn't think of his name so I had to settle for Maestro Delphine's servant lol.

I completely agree with you there, I love how they interpreted that into a dance. That whole scene was so very very great. However, I didnt like how Luciola died gonk

Same here, I'm more for Tatiana x Claus than Lavie x Claus. Though, same as Dio, I didn't like Tatiana at first either.

CATGIRLSABRINA: Yes, the main appeal of Last Exile when I first watched it was the setting and the fact that instead of being bright and cartoony, it had awesome realistic-type graphics. There's just so much to love heart

To Angel-kun: His name is Cicada. One of the only Guilder badguys I love.

The dance-fight I thought was kind of weird and something that's hard not to make fun of, but I like it too. I didn't like how Lucciola died either, I kept telling him "Don't take the ring, DON'T TAKE THE RING!!!!"

She is positively my most HATED anime villian I've met so far. The only character who has ever stirred this much hatred in me is Flay from Gundam Seed.
