Ya know, he kinda does. At like the very last scene of the last episode you can hear the voice of Dio coming from the engine room of the Silvana yelling "Ascending!"

Then in retrospect, I loved that they did that.

I liked it as well. I noticed that basically everyone who died in the series was shown to actually be alive in the last episode. It confused me a bit

Yeah, I thought Mullin died. But then he's at Earth? Alive? With a kid as well? sweatdrop

yeah, I didnt know what was going on there at all

Pfft. I'd rather Mullin died. It makes characters seem cooler, y'know?

Yeah gonk Poor Dio. Y'know, I was hoping Dio was still alive until the very end! The last art in my Range Murata edition tricked me into thinking he lives at the end. >.< !

I love Last Exile, i found it before it was licenced but only watched the first episode or two, when it came out even though it was an unknown series at the time i got the dvds and art box. Then Anime Unleashed aired it which made me happy only to find outh that they sped it up slightly and cut scenes (grrrrrrrr). I love all the work that Range Murata does, if you liked the art work, check out "Blue Sub #6".

Ya, "Blue Submarine #6" is another anime, it was released a couple years before Last Exile, it was released by Bandai and shouldn't be too difficult to locate, it aired on toonami back when TOM was the mascot. Be careful though, they released two versions a "toonami Movie" Edition and a regular series edition which is 2 dvds, go for the regular edition, the movie edition is just a short version of the original 4 episode series.

I too saw it on G4 before my mom got rid of the digital cable stuff...and I only had 7 episodes left to go before it ended. Well...I was at the store one day when I found the entire series...so I bought it. I love Dio and Alvis!!!

from what i can tell it has more art by Range Murata in it in addition to the complete series, ie: alternate dvd cover art. That seems to be the only difference, but i could be wrong

If I remember right it goes "Disith bullets will avoid Mullin Shetland's body, Disith bullets will avoid Mullin Shetland's body, Disith bullets will avoid Mullin Shetland's body, Disith bullets will avoid Mullin Shetland's body, Disith bullets will avoid Mullin Shetland's body" lol

And yes, it would have been better if he had died. The series didnt need a PERFECT ending. There could have been at least a little death.

Bahhhhh you stole what I was going to say! Besides you couldn't kill Mullin he was a awesome average Joe non important character and see he survived that battle *holds up medal* He only got shot *knew he should of chanted more* Annnnyway blue sub was also pretty good you can get it at best buy for like 20 bucks. If they don't have it at your store see if they can order it or just go to the best buy online store.

lol, I may end up watching Blue Sub later, but I have many other anime that come first.

Dravack and Avakar: Blue Sub sounds interesting, however, I'm broke right now.. that's why I say I'll keep it in mind. When I get a job I'll check it out, maybe buy it.

If you like Range Murata's art style , you might like Yoshitoshi ABe, he did the art for Serial Experiments: Lain, NieA under 7, Haibane Renmei and Texhnolyze.

Last Exile isn't my favorite anime, but it's easily in my top 10. I was really fond of the art, and I thought the story was pretty impressive. It's still one of the first animes that I recommend to people... especially people who say they don't like anime.

Not sure if I have a favorite character, but I had a strange love/hate thing for Dio.

The only anime out of that list I have watched is Serial Experiments: Lain, which was insane
