Did you guys cry for the anime too or am I just overly soft hearted?

((Grave of the Fireflies was sad too...and I cried for it))

I didn't cry. But that's just because I'm like that. I did get overly emotional though, mostly for Dio. I still get mad when I watch the mind-warped Dio.. poking his fork to the plate.. laughing like a retard.. smashing the cake.. I HAVE to watch the Maestro's death scene just to make me feel better. I EFFING EFFING HATE HER HATE HER HAAAAAATE HEEEEEEER. And I luff Alex for breaking her neck whee
I hate her too... And I had Alex as my fave the first time I saw him...and was so happy that the was the one that killed her! I was laughing my head off and screaming, "YEAH! YOU GO MAN!"

I am up to the last 2 episodes right now, 25 and 26. I am going to watch them tonight, and then start on Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni right after it.

It is very enjoyable, yes it is. A very good series indeed ^^.

((SPOILERS don't read til after you watch the last episodes.))
Sweet! Tell me what you think. What are your favorite characters?
Also, finally getting to see what Prester looks from the outside was interesting, and after watching the series for the second and third times, I finally realized that hints of how Prester looked -- you know, the somewhat hourglass shape -- were scattered through the anime.. one example is the Prester symbol on the floor of the Maestro's throne room. Also, the symbol on the book, when they say the episode title. I would love it if someone could point out more?

Well, for me, my favorite characters were actually:

Lavie, Tatiana, Alister and Mullen. I dunno why I like Mullen, I just thought he was cool. I also felt somewhat sad when he was supposed dead by Dunya.

The ending was really good, and Gonzo seems good at the whole "sudden ending and epilogue" area of Anime, which also happened in Trinity Blood.

But still, after everything that happens. There are a lot of questions that could be asked.

Where did Exile come from? Where did it go to? Was the planet shown during the 4th Mysteria Earth?

I know Dio survives, but what happens to him after his insanity in the Grand Stream?

Also, with the Prester thing...wannabout the map of the Grand Stream? It was in a hour-glass type shape.

I did like the ending of Last Exile a lot, but I dont agree with your statement about Trinity Blood. I didnt like that anime at all, the only reason I watched through to the end was because the art style was amazing. Other than that, it sucked for me.

As for Dio, I suppose he stays on the Silvana like the other guild member.

Unfortunately I dont have any answers for the other questions you asked sweatdrop
Fananna: xd Me too, I was like HECK YEAH ALEX you da man whee But Onicept's right.. then Alex dies..

Onicept: I liked Mullin the first time he came into the story, where he helped Lavie and Claus relay the girl's letter, but then after that he kinda became just another character to me. I still like him though.

My two cents are: Yes, that was Earth. The "Blue planet" that the Mysteria imply. Somehow, perhaps, people had to leave Earth, so they made a planet (Prester looks manmade, now doesn't it? That's what I think anyway.) And a space ferry. Exile ferries people from Earth to Prester and vice versa. The only crew member needed is Alvis, for her activation code (mysteria). Somehow people stopped using Exile, so it reverted to its safe 'cocoon' phase, and hid in the Grand Stream.
Some of this information I got from the info in my box set, but some may be merely my judgement.

It may be me but I don't think Dio could have survived being bashed about, alone, in the Grand Stream.. dunno. It's meant to be a mystery, I suppose.

Yes you're right. I think that's a map of Prester?
I totally cried when he died. I knew it was coming... I knew it was coming but I couldn't take it anyways. I think it was surprising with who they had kill him too. I just hope that Vincent and Sophia get together! They would be so cute! Then again Sophia is a queen...

@ Blood Liberal - Yes, but Last Exile and Trinity blood had the same aspect to them. They both skipped at the crucial part to get it over and done with, and left you guessing what's gonna happen next.

Last Exile skipped right where Exile had shed its Cocoon, Trinity Blood stopped right when Abel was attacking his worst enemy, and then they went to the epilogue.

@ Exiled Poet - So then it works just like Eureka seveN then.

There is supposed to be a picture of them all in the epilogue, with Dio's waving hand and foot coming into the picture as they smile at him, which is actual art by the Manga Artist and not fan-made.

I actually didn't mind Dio, since he was kind of the whole "Anti" which made Claus and Lavie try harder. I thought he had a good development, and the sad part is he never learned Claus's name (which is why he was probably so happy in the Grand Stream, cause he would get to learn "Immelmann's" true name), however, he thinks he himself killed Luciola.

However, it is also a mystery of why his voice is heard on the Silvana yelling ascending, taking to note he could've simply snuck on or he could've fell and got into the Engine room after Exile "erased" the Grand Stream.

I'm absolutely certain Dio knew Claus's name. Not only had he heard it being said a crap load of times throughout the series but he actually called Claus, 'Claus' once, when they both returned to the abandoned Silvana.

On a side note: I'm sure most are already aware, but it seems that Murata has been quoted on saying that Dio was picked up by a guild ship after falling from his vanship, as written in a certain book or some such thing.

I also do not think him being alive would ruin the ending in anyway, as he would still think he was the cause of Luciola's death, until 'enlightened', which may be not be simple considering his broken state of mind.

However, there is two arguments. The interview included him being picked up by a Guild ship, while a picture also includes him walking onto the scenery at the orphanage where Alvis is now at, as they were having their picture taken.

I agree with you there, Dio living doesnt ruin the ending for me. I liked it exactly how it was. Never showing Dio alive but that lone voice to make sure you dont forget him. I believe it to be a near perfect ending for the anime

Lol, nice Lavi avatar. I think the hair is too pink (should be more towards the red side), but other than that its very good.

Speaking of avatars, I submitted my revised avi in the arena. My last submission didnt do quite as good as I had hoped so im going to try again. My goal is to get an average of 8/10. So if all of you would please vote it would be much appreciated heart

I got the exact picture, I saw the info on Wiki. Apparently it is in the official Last Exile Art Book or something. However I got it other ways, it is below.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Exile#Episode_list

Look down in the 'trivia' section.

Wikipedia

It is stated in an interview placed in the Last Exile art book Aerial Log that Dio Eraclea was picked up by a passing Guild ship after he fell from his vanship in the final episodes of the show. In addition, there is a scene depicted in the series' official artwork showing Claus, Lavie, and their friends living on the farm turning and smiling at an individual stepping into the frame with them. Though all that can be seen is one foot and a waving hand, the individual appears to be wearing Dio's Guild uniform.

Here is the image, I found it in "special" ways. It was hard, but I got it.

I love Last Exile, it ranks very high with me.

I only have a few minor grapes with the anime, mainly with the canon stating that a couple of characters actually live (spoiler: Mullin and Dio) instead of die. It kinda took away some of the impact from the scenes, but I wouldn't say it ruined the ending for me...just made me roll my eyes a wee bit.

And as much as I don't mind characters dying, I am a sucker for a happy ending, at heart.
