LoL
That sucks.
I'm 21 and LOVE anime.
Always have and always will.
I grew up on Dragonball, DBZ, Sailor Moon,
Gundam Wing, Zoids, and of course Pokemon.
My mother was also a little weirded out by it at first but she quickly
came to see the light. By the time I was in middle school, she sat
and watched DBZ with me everyday after I got home from school.
If it weren't for Zoids being on at five o'clock in the morning while I
was growing up I don't know how I would have gotten to school on
time. In fact! My parents never had to make sure I was up for school
after Pokemon reruns were played daily in the USA which was started
in the late 90's because I was up every morning to watch it before
school. My grandmother always thought it was weird, still does, but
she credits it to keeping me out of trouble while I was growing up. I
was always wrapped up in a new story line
or fantasizing about an older one.
I always used to make fun of my mother's favorite cartoons:
Smurfs, Thundercats, He-Man, and Inspector Gadget.
Lets not forget her favorite comic, Elf Quest. LOL
I loved all of those things and still do, but it didn't take much
comparing, contrasting, and mocking to get her to understand.
You're mom will come to accept your likes
as long as those likes aren't self-destructive.
After all, she is your mother.
