My mom and dad are okay with it, but they don't want me to watch anything that is ecchi though

My dad's always asking if I've heard any good anime soundtracks lately since he caught me watching Card Captor Sakura subtitled and was impressed by the music (though he pointed out, "This is what they watch for cartoons in Japan? It moves so slow... If this was from the US, somebody would've been kicking someone else by now!" ).

I've gotten him to be an indirect Yoko Kanno nerd. Heck, he's even used some background OST tracks as intermission music for the stage shows he works tech crew for. cool

My mom? Thinks Pokemon is cute, but she's found my porn manga when going through my bookshelves ("I ran out of something to read" ), so her opinion's mixed overall, haha.

the first anime i watched was speedracer, then when the original toonami aired on cartoon network i watched tenchi muyo which had alot of sexual inuendoes that a 7yr old would not know, and my mom heard one of them and asked me if i knew what they where talking about, i said no and kept watching

My parents probably can't tell the different between Anime and American cartoons, and it's better it stays that way.

Your mom sounds uptight. What of it? I would watch it in front of her. You can always watch things online you dont have to wait for them to come on tv.

Just outright tell your mom you know she thinks she sounds cool and witty or whatever but she knows nothing. whats there to accept?

If you draw crappy bsessive fanart then yeah, i'd be worried. stop that s**t. Write fan-fiction instead and try not to be creepy about it. Its bringing it on yourself and i'd side with your mom.

But most anime and fans are pretty ok i dont know many people who dont like at least one anime

Whenever I watch anime my family thinks Im watching Porn...no its not porn its just more mature Japanese Animation then regular American Animation.


But sometimes it is porn.

Fun fact: Whenever I hear people throw around the statement that Anime is "More mature" than American Animation it comes down to "LOOK AT ALL THE VIOLENCE AND PARTIAL NUDITY IN IT! HOW CAN THAT NOT BE MATURE!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" So I'd say it's more juvenile than American animation, really.

Don't suppose you have any examples of what you consider "More mature" in it?

My relationship with my parents is very complicated, especially when it comes to my Anime. I believe I can best summarize the situation with the following comics.

My parents dont really know a lot about what I watch, or what I do in general despite the fact that I am still living with them. I think my mom could get in to anime if I showed her some though, not so much my dad.

Maybe I can get my sister hooked and she can find out what they think for me.

A show like Clannad would be considered more Mature then a show Like adventure time. Even though Adventure Time uses a lot of language that goes unknown to kids. A 10 year old can sit down and grap the concept of Adventure Time, but Highly unlikely they can grasp or enjoy the concept of a romantic comedy. Not every anime had extreme violence or Partial Nudity in it.

My parents used to think I was wasting time watching "cartoons" but now they know it's anime so they leave me alone. That and I've gotten my degree so they don't care what I do rofl
