You can't be a manga-ka if you're not japanese. Unless you want to be a crappy one.

So what. Find your own artstyle and represent America. Draw some good comics, rather then rape the japanese art style... I mean, nobody buys American manga for a simple reason: The art is crap. It's all just copying the little common traits in manga, not trying to use their own style...

That, and every weaboo in America wants to be a manga-ka.

So just.... don't.

Not all American manga artwork is crap...maybe just...80% to 90% of them are bad. ninja

The really good artists rarely get published.... ninja
Ain't that the truth. D: Or if they DO get published, they aren't as notice-able or popular because it's not "fully Japanese manga style" like some other ones are.

You don't have to be Japanese, but you do have to have it published in Japan.
You really can't become a manga unless you're Japanese.
Or you could become fluent in Japanese, move to Japan, and attempt a career as a mangaka. That'd work.

You know, I feel the same way. I always draw manga and give my characters Japanese names. why? Because it's just better that way. Why can't I?

Because you are a weeaboo.
Don't make a Japanese life plot line for a comic, unless you actually lived in Japan and know Japanese.

Japanese names are just better. It makes it feel like the real thing, that's the point. Not a weeaboo.

What about anime with American/English/german/ other country names? Are they not real because the character's name is Allen?

That's not what I mean. I like English names, but Japanese names are more... fun! They have direct meanings that you can toy around with, making all sorts of combinations that can correlate to the character.
It feels more like... real manga. Like i'm an actual manga-ka.

Er I don't gert what you mean. Your saying Japanese names make it sound more like a real manga. Yet there are plenty of manga characters with English or none Japanese names. So no I don't understand what you mean.

I think you can“t become a manga even if you are Japanese...... XD but with other things.... true.
Manga-Ka=Comic artist (same thing)

Mangas and comics are just graphic novels/books. You need good literature and some art style to become a manga (or comic) artist no matter what race you are.
Actually,It is possible to be a mangaka even if your not Japanese.Although,I heard you have to study in Japan and get a degree in arts or something like that.It also depends on your skill of drawing manga and how well you make a story. My sister is not even part Japanese, she's in japan right now and she's studying mangaka...She's currently an apprentice of some mangaka's ^_^
the only differance between manga and comics is that their read in diffrent directions

Yeah, and have you ever heard bad made up english names in japanese writing? You know, really corny s**t because the engrish lover thought it sounded cool?

Yeah. That's what your names will sound like to japanese readers.

Why write about a place you've never been to, it'll just come out even more fake, dumbass.

Combinations, huh? You can't mix Japanese characters/meanings together that easily. It may sound cool to you, but people who truly know Japanese would find them silly or stupid. Literal names are fine in moderation, but too many would sound awful.

It's pretty sad so many people can't grasp the concept.

*sigh*
Well I want to go to Japanese to learn manga and how to draw better, to become the first Australian Mangaka!!

but now I'm learning my Japanese
i know how you feel.

But i was born here in Australia, so i often have to explain what "Manga-ka" is and THEN i get put down.

so annoying! All that practice for nothing! crying
