Edit, an actual answer: Maybe it's because most of weeaboos say "OMFG I WANNA BE A MANGOKA WEN I GROW UP!!!11". And then they start drawing without having any knowledge about art AT ALL, resulting in pictures which are pretty much an eye-rape. Really, how can we take shitty drawings seriously? |

manga is just the Japanese word for comic book, so it doesn't matter if you call yourself a mangaka or a comicker it's the same thing.

anyway, just don't let them get to you, you can always be an american manga-ka like mark crilly. razz besides, life isin't all manga, its really hard to get in te industry first, i think thats what you should be thinking about instead of "omg i'm not jap so i can't do it because people are putting me down" just do your best and who cares what others think. |

people are mean because, a, people are assholes, and b, manga fans are sick of wannabe "manga-ka" who aren't even Japanese trying to foist cliche crap on them that they obviously spent the most effort on trying to make it look "Japanese" or "manga-like" and thus didn't put nearly enough effort into the plot, characters, or creating their own art style. there's also comic fans who are sick of the "manga kiddies" acting as if comics aren't good enough for them when some comics are actually superior to some manga.
you want to step on the least amount of toes and get fewer disparaging remarks? say you want to create manga-inspired comics. some will still b***h, but there'll always be someone doing that, but you'll get less bitching overall. |
