Shaman King has a bunch of very cool characters. I'm quite obsessed with this manga actually - and my favorites are Hao Asakura and Jeanne (aka The Iron Maiden, saint of the X-Laws). I've been shipping these two for a long time too...
Hao is quite a good villain too. In the anime they messed up his character but the manga version was very interesting. As he could read minds and was far more strong than the main characters, he never got beaten until the very end, and even then he wasn't harmed physically.
He and Jeanne are quite interesting together, in the twisted sense of the term. She's been raised to kill him and led to believe that she was a saint and Jeanne d'Arc's reincarnation - but finds out mid-manga that she was just lied to. She's weaker than Hao by great lengths, but she went on fighting him knowing she couldn't win. Still, being the second strongest Shaman, she made a great match.
... I guess I just like to ship the 'not-so-good' girl and the 'not-so-bad' boy. mrgreen
