I'm trying to name something relatively obscure that hasn't been listed... Well, It's not THAT bad, but I found this movie called Ringing Bell/Chirin no Suzu that was intended for five year olds but is surprisingly bleak and hopeless. I thought it was interesting for a children's anime. Let's just say NOBODY gets a happily ever after.... And it was made by Sanrio, ladies and gentlemen.

If you ever watch it watch it subbed. The dub adds all these cartoony sound effects and there's this line that's really poignant in the Japanese version that wasn't in the dub.

i know its probably already been said but one that just drained me emotionally, and made me cry at a show more than i ever have before was Anohana.

but something that gives me that "i need to cleanse myself in holy water and forget this demon" feeling would probably Chaos Head. that show just tried too hard to be ******** up, it was like a horror ecchi and i just dont ever wanna see that again. who knew that could even BE a genre lmaooo

I just watched the dub... Darn it. I should of guessed the sub was better. The sound quality itself was poor on the dub, let alone the translations/voice acting.

I honestly did not understand why School Days was that soul crushing? I thought it was pretty mediocre. Maybe I just read too many soul crushing s**t.

I haven't seen a lot of serious anime, since I tend to watch comedies, so the only one I can name that left me in a ball of sad was Wolf's Rain. Cried like a lil b***h at the ending. And yeah, probably everyone and their mom has seen it but there you go.

This one is much easier to explain. It's one of those anime series' that's really only popular because of its gore and shock value. (Much like Blood-C and Elfen Lied, among others.) The characters are nothing more than a bunch of ******** caricatures, and the story is basically just an excuse to turn the show into meaningless torture porn that makes even SAW look watchable. The only joy I could get out of this show is seeing these archetypes brutally murdered onscreen. I guess that might've been the main draw for the show, but it still didn't make up for the characters being so shitty in the first place.

At least I don't have to watch it anymore, right?

YESS. well in my opinion with the show was s**t. total s**t. yeah the gore was okay but did they really have to start off on tortured souls...why not blood covered?

This topic kind of conveys two different feelings, so I'll answer both.

Rose of Versailles is the best anime I've seen, but holy s**t, those last few episodes were so emotionally draining. It completely destroyed me, I knew the ending was gonna be tragic but not entirely that tragic.

Closer to the "I need a shower now" feeling, Fideo Aldena from Inazuma Eleven makes me feel like that whenever I look at him or hear his awful screechy voice. Blehhhh. I can't even think of another character I hate as much as him, and he's just a brat from a kiddie sports anime.

One of my favourite series, but it really broke my heart!

Other series' that had that effect on me would be Revolutionary Girl Utena, Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass.

HOLY ********. The first time I saw it I hated it. Haven't rewatched it since it was on Adult Swim; I hear there's a LOT of sex and nudity in the uncut version; but I just remember EVERYBODY dying. The rescue team that saves the guy at the beginning? All of them die within like 4 episodes, then this little girl he's trying to rescue gets snatched by a bug at the end of the episode and she's just GONE. Its like 'WAH!? NONONO!!! We just spent this whole episode getting attached to her! GAH!!!" crying

i just edited my post and was thinking about the same exact moment crying its one of my favorites,i havent rewatched it since then as well.i saw the last episode afterwardagain randomly...omg that last episode or maybe the 1 b4 the last when they atk the ship ...omg also a few become sicko characters
