Welcome to Gaia! ::

Has anyone watched Simoun (pronounced "Shimuun" )? I just watched the first episode, and I'm already hooked. If you like aerial combat, interesting ethereal fantasy/sci-fi worlds, and pretty girls kissing, then this series is for you!

Does anyone familiar with the series know how many volumes will be released? There's no release schedule inside the DVD packaging. I know there's 26 episodes in all, but volume 2 is the only upcoming release I know of...

Also, the soundtrack is fantastic (although the "next on Simoun" accordion music makes me think of the movie "12 Monkeys," which isn't necessarily a bad thing)! I see there's two import CDs on amazon, a "Simoun animation soundtrack" and a "Simoun V.2." Does anyone know what the difference is between these two?
It looks like Simoun is only going to be 5 volumes at about $20 apiece (the first volume has 6 episodes on it!). This is a refreshing change from a 24-26 episode series being sold as 6 volumes, for $25-30 apiece.

For $10 less a volume, I can deal with not having an English dub. Besides, I never watch series dubbed anyway.

I bought and watched the first volume of Simoun in November. It has a lot of promise so far, and I like yuri myself. I've also been hearing that it doesn't really pick up until episode 8, though.

Volume 2 comes out at the end of the month, and volume 3 comes out in late April. I don't know about volumes 4 or 5 since the release schedule's been inconsistent, although I'd hope they come out in late June and August.

Remember that the MSRP is $20. Odds are you'll pay less; Best Buy had it for $15.

MSRP or below, it's still loads cheaper than the series I'd been buying. I got mine for $18 off amazon.

Honestly, before I watched this series, I was expecting the CG imagery to be awkward and noticeably off-putting. I'm glad I was wrong.
