Most of the time, I'm neutral when it comes to dubs, but the only dub I actually hate is the dub for Tokyo Mew Mew (Mew Mew Power).
While I prefer to watch subbed anime, I don't mind dubbed ones. If it's decent, I'd watch it. Hellsing and Ghost in the Shell : SAC dubs for example. I really liked the dubs so I watched both versions heh.
        I think I agree.
Except the fact that some people dislike English dubs because they dislike the English language (surprise surprise, some people actually don't like it!), and such people are often called weeaboos etc. Personally it's pissing me off.

On the other hand, English people who hate English dubs because "omfg dey suk" are just stupid, spoiled kids who have never heard a trully bad dub in their life.

And... truth be told, I think hardcore dub lovers are even worse.
Most dubs are good. It's just when a dub is bad it's Really REALLy bad. And people tend to focus on the bad dubs. A 4kids dub is not a common dub people it's actually the oppisite of the average dub.

If there was no such thing as dubbing anime, then all anime would be like one of those old silant movies, no talking at all.
Double post, yeah I agree with you.

Really I understand why people hate dubs but it seems like they are taking the hate from the first dub they have seen (A horribly done edited only TV dub) and act like every dub is that bad. When that is just not the case.

Dubs are awesome, what is everyone saying they're bad for? I'd prefer not to read while I'm watching, because I am not hearing impaired. I'd rather not watch closed caption when I don't have to.

But, some series I've gone far in subs, I couldn't possibly catch up with the dub releases that are at least a year behind.
Now there's good dubbing, and then there's the horrible dubbing. Like when 4Kids did One Piece.

One Piece is a perfect example of the best dubbing (The FUNi dub) and the worst dubbing (The 4kids dub) you can possibly get.
actuallt,i dont know wat ur taking about...... sweatdrop
I like them both
Eh, I prefer dubs, but I tolerate subs for the most part.
Eh. I prefer subs but I like a lot of dubs too. Meh. It's all just preference anyways. The inflexible sub nazis annoy me though stare
I have no preference with my anime, but generally prefer dubs if I can manage it. Its incredibly rare for me to shun either a sub or a dub of a series, because honestyl, I just want to watch the show.
Dubs are great, and people who think japanese is the best in the universe and refuse anything remotely american are idiots in my opinion.
Give dubs a chance. u_u (Because god knows that the Hellsing dub PWNS the raws and subs)
well ya i think it depends on the anime and the actors and stuff, like the second naruto movie, i saw the japanese first and i still think the dubbing for it was pretty good, i thought so at least, but ya i sometimes like watching the japanese better, but only if it explains the cultural stuff from it, otherwise ill watch the english... but the only dub that i cannot stand cus it was dome horribly was the DNAngel dub, has anyone else seen that? it was terrible!! yes vic did do a good job with dark but daisuke's voice actor just wasent that talented.
I feel your frustration and I applaud you for making this topic.

I'll actually take an English dub over subtitles anyday because honestly I feel that subtitles aren't fair to the animators. Hayao Miyazaki even said himself in an interview that he prefers that people watch his animated films in whatever their native lanugage is. He and alot of another animators that I've reseached all feel that subtitles severly take away from the experience. They want their audience to be able to immerse themselves in the characters and storyline, every little detail counts and subtitles take away from that. I even remember reading once that Disney actually dissaproves of subtitled version of their animated films because they don't want thier audience to be distracted by reading.

With this being said I'm not saying that watching anime in Japanese w/ subs is wrong. You can watch whatever you want in whatever format you prefer. But I am tired of people insisting that Jap w/ subs is the one and only right way, because ultimately it's NOT! Try this, Japanese with NO SUBTITLES! razz

I don't care what others say, if you watch anime in Japanese with English subs you aren't REALLY enjoying it in Japanese. You aren't able to understand what is being said without the subtitles there to tell you. It doesn't matter what audio you're listening to. You are still reading the ENGLISH SUBS therefore your mind is processing it in ENGLISH. Even though you are hearing Japanese your mind automatically blocks it out because your brain cannot read and intently listen at the same time.

I only watch subbed anime when the show isn't availabe in English or if I like the show enough I'll listening to the Japanese track as well as the dub. Then there are dubs like Gravitation which never should have been produced. gonk

But I for one appreciate English dubs (especially the ones that have been done within the past 6 years) because I appreciate having the same luxury that Japanese do which is being able to watch anime without the need for subtitles.
