Running with your head down is good for short distances, but you'd wear out if you didn't stand up right after a hundred yards or so.

thats because you are pushing your weight forward and putting pressure on your lungs, less air = more tired

Er... Who now? (I watch American dub on CN)
with the whole running thing, it does actually work. ive tried it, and running "naruto style" is actually faster than running upwards.

and they say anime doesnt teach you anything. pshaw.

Q: How does the summoning jutsu really work?
A: Here's my theory: When using the Summoning Jutsu, Your chakra travels through the ground at light-speed (your blood a tribute to give it more speed) and locates the object you're summoning. The object then becomes sort of a ghost, invisible and traveling through objects, until it reaches its destination. Its return to physical form is what causes the cloud of smoke. And, of course, you couldn't do it in real life, or at least in this manner. If you wanted to make it look like a summoning jutsu to fool your friends, try hiding an electromagnet up your sleeve (as long as what you're retrieving is magnetic!) Then make the hand signs and turn on the magnet. Of course, you have to be sure the object is close enough.

Thats a rather inelegant theory. For one, being matter being incorporeal is hard to do for physics. Particles can Quantum Tunnel, but getting all the particles in an object to tunnel is really, really hard. Furthermore, matter cannot travel at the speed of light, energy can only travel at the speed of light. A better explanation might be wormholes or quantum teleportation. (note, I don't really know much about naruto. I'm just using the description of the summoning jutsu on wikipedia)
The way they run with their hands down in a fight is actualy really bad their leaving their whole body open for attacks

hehe..if there are a curse seal in real life that would be a mutant human creature.
this reminds me of during the chunnin exams, of all the questions of the test!

I never imagined the summoning jutsu quite working that way.
I've always thought the animals remained in some different dimention, and then the combination of chakra, seals, and blood summoned them up in some un-scientific matter.
Also, they can't exactly travel through ground.
Remember when Naruto first summoned Gamabunta?
Naruto summoned him while he was thousands of feet in the air.... kinda....
Okay, here's an inconsitency. Two things can put out a fire, right; water or putting dirt on it (i'm pretty sure you can put out a small fire with dirt, but i haven't tried it personally. It should work because you're cutting off the oxygen ot the flame, right? Humor me if i'm wrong.)

But the Third Hokage, when he was fighting Orochimaru at the climax of the Chunnin exam, combined fire and earth to get flaming dirtballs. So my question is, can dirt get caught on fire? For the sake of the question, manure doesn't count--and if the Third Hokage was spitting manure from his mouth....EW! eek
