So I've been on an animated movie marathon this weekend because I actually had some free time. I'll just mention a couple of movies that kinda stumped me. First, I watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame, my favorite Disney movie as a kid. My eyes practically fell out of my head when I heard Frollo singing Hellfire. I know the book the movie is based on is pretty dark, but geez, I can't believe when I was little I didn't even realize that Frollo was singing about raping and murdering Esmerelda. In fact, the entire movie was pretty dark, though not nearly as grim as the book. I still love the movie to bits, but I'm just totally surprised I didn't catch on to all of the things going on in the movie. Oh. My teacher played Pom Poko during class. In case you don't know what I'm talking about, here's some screenshots. Pic 1 Pic 2 THAT'S RIGHT. DURING SCHOOL WE WATCHED THIS. And I even think it was rated G. Discuss Any childhood movie in which you didn't fully comprehend until now? Darkest animated movie you've seen? (For me, it's probably The Secret of NIMH) Fun question: Your favorite Disney classic? |
