Quit your griping about the cost of anime. Anime in North America has never been more available or cheaper now that it has been 15 years ago. You've gotten spoiled and don't know how good you have it now compared to what it could still be like. And what it could easily go back to being like.
depending on where you buy them, yeah

Not really. I think they're at a pretty fair price. Sure, they're a little pricey, but if a person like me who doesn't have a job currently, saves money off change from their lunch money, and frequently makes trips to coin star can afford them then I say that they're pretty affordable. Plus, I don't buy the single dvds very often. You get a much better deal with seasons and half seasons.

Actually....

I'd say free is a pretty good deal.
There are a lot of reasons why anime DVDs are more expensive then normal DVDs.

1) The main reason is supply and demand. There is less of a demand for anime DVDs compared to a season set of a TV shows or the DVD release of a movie. So less copies of anime DVDs are made and released. because less are made the price is higher.

2) As much as anime fans hate to Admit it Anime is "Specilty goods" and specilty items are always more expensive.

3) Anime is also an import and imports are generally more expensive then dosmestic stuff.

Now as others have said anime DVDs are much cheaper today then they use to be. Even five years ago they were probably double the price they are now. And if retail prices are too high for you there are ways around it.

Here is something I recomend for all anime fans low on money, check your local dollar stores, and chains like Family Dollar and Big Lots and check them often. Generally they will not have anime but they will eventually get the leftover stuff from other stores when the merchandice is updated like every three months or so. At that point they may get a nice supply of anime DVDs and they will sell them for a fraction of the price.

For instance at the beginning of March my local big Lots got a lot of FUNimation titles, stuff that was not sold in time at the local best buy. These DVDs were sold for three dollars a piece. Hows that for a deal.
I don't think it is bad, Some are a little much but if you want to own the show there not much you can do about it.
Cheaper than drugs.

That's how I got my PS3.

Single DVDs are very pricey, and more expensive when you buy them from Funi. I buy Box Sets/Season to get a better deal, but sometimes it ain't that great of a deal.

Same here, the only time I bought a series on single dvds is when each Dvd was worth 5$ at the comic store I go to xD and they had every volume in the series except for 1 stare
heart heart i like cheap anime than expensive anime cuz i can afford it
