Its too expensive in the stores around here. I just pirate and save up for the ones I love. Its too expensive to take the chance on.

I would rather watch fansubs than pirate. I'm not giving my money to people who illegally distribute anime. If I'm going to find an illegal means of watching Japanimation, I'm going the Scrooge route.

Watching fansubs is pirating.

Yes, but at least I am not giving money to those who don't deserve it. If a series does get licensed after I watch the fansubs, if they aren't s**t I might consider buying them (or at the very least, rent them).

Personally, I prefer Netflix since when I am using a computer, the last thing I'm going to do is use it as a television.

Anime is far too expensive.

If I was to buy anime rather than watch it online, I wouldn't have enough money to catch the bus to college or even to buy food.

Food itself is more expensive then anime.

One could put 25$ aside a week and buy a new boxset every month.

Your not entitled to anime. Someone makes it, you buy it, they make more with the money, you buy the newer series, etc.

It's a business, not a free form of entertainment.
I saw the whole series of Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu at Sakura Media (pretty much the best anie/manga store in BC, Canada) and the series was $102 Cnd.
Ridiculous. A 26 episode series. Those are normally between $60-80, but I guessthey can charge more for the more obscure anime.

In Japan it's around half the price when converted into dollars. However, U.S. distributors need to compensate since licensing is expensive. Also, I'm more likely to go back and reread mange several times since it's around eight feet away from my bed and I don't even need electricity. When you have 16 volumes of Negima!, the whole Chrono Crusade manga series, and every volume of Sgt. Frog released in the states are your disposal and only require a few seconds to flip to any chapter or story arc you wish to read, $10 doesn't sound so steep.

Think about it it costs about as much as a normal dvd usually but they always seen to come in volumes with 3 or 4 episodes on them!
I know what you mean dude. even more so if you go to Barns and Noble, what little anime they have, it's like 30.00 a pop.

I generally stick to box set DVD, it a little cheaper, even more so if you get one with thin box dvd in them. Plus I buy most of my stuff at Best Buy, because they tend to have some good deal in anime.

which is why you don't buy anime at Barnes and Nobles/Borders/some bookstores. Although it you get on their membership program, you can get coupons and discounts.

Watching unlicensed anime is still very illegal. You taking profits, that's the problem.
When you rent them, the dvds were purchased and the animu industry got a cut, when you steal them the profit is non-existent.

I feel sorry for all the businesses that pour their money into this industry.

They give more and more, and are lenient to insane levels and all you animu fans is take and take even more, without giving a damn dime back.

People like this are scum imo, it you were a good fan you would try your best to keep the industry above the water to enjoy new releases, instead of killing it like a disease.

Well, they have to make their money somehow.
I usually just by the manga.
Ten dollars for a book isn't bad at all.
I do have DVDs though.
Like Ouran High School Host Club.
That's got the dub and sub versions on it!
^_^
If you have a job, these DVDs mean nothing. neutral
hmmm.... well since i have never bought any anime dvds (but i need to)
ii wouldn't know...but i think $20 is a bit much.

Yah maybe if you live in the USA. In other countries it far more expensive. Anime is so pricey up here in Canada that you could buy it from the US (including shipping and exchange rate) and it would be cheaper. Not always but often, particularly if you want to buy the individual DVDs

The more I see the less I know
The more I'd like to let it go

所詮 青の世界に閉じ込められて笑う
太陽を失って 僕は月のありかを探す

I think so. Especially considering the fact that some dvd's only come with like 2 to 4 episodes each. My cousin could easily burn us a DVD import from Japan with over 15 to 20 episodes in them. And he got his for like over $20 or $30.

Even if I'm stuck in a blue world, I'll laugh everything off.
And because I've now lost the sun, I'll go find the moon.

In between the cover of another perfect wonder
And its all white as snow
Running through the field where all my tracks will be concealed
And theres no where to go
