Welcome to Gaia! ::

I guess you missed the Best Buy sale where they had all anime 50% off...

but it was only in selected stores :S
Its too expensive in the stores around here. I just pirate and save up for the ones I love. Its too expensive to take the chance on.
OP, you are an idiot. A regular DVD doesn't have the added costs of licensing, dubbing, etc added to production of the discs, and regular DVDs have more mainstream appeal than anime. Anime DVDs cost more to make and sell to less people, so they're obviously more expensive =/
Licensing isn't cheap, you know. There's a reason why anime licensing in America is a shrinking business.

Anime is still a shitload cheaper now than it was 5 to 10 years ago, and I still managed to buy a DVD or two monthly with money from birthdays, holidays, and chores around the house. Quit bitching and learn some frugality. If you wait long enough, you could probably buy several DVDs nowadays for the price of what I used to cough up for one DVD.

watch it online! I really never spend for anime, even when I love it, I have other stuff to spend for, like hamster food XD
Anime is cheap, seriously 20$ is nothing.
It costs almost that to eat lunch at a decent restaurant

35-45$ a dvd/vhs in the 90s was expensive, 20$ a dvd now is dirt cheap..

Anime fans have bad excuses for stealing, 75-100$ for 26episodes is not a lot of money
Get off your asses and do some damn work and buy them, if your a teen at home it's pathetically easily

I would rather watch fansubs than pirate. I'm not giving my money to people who illegally distribute anime. If I'm going to find an illegal means of watching Japanimation, I'm going the Scrooge route.

OkamiYuki
if only they would cut dvds down about $10 and manga by $5. now that would be alright i think.
Yeah...good luck with that. The chances of that happening are slim.

And there's something called boxsets. May be more expensive at first glance, but usually cheaper in the long run, especially if you get it on sale or at a discount.
rolleyes

Are you serious?
They have to record and input the English voices and they subtitle it.

At my end its pretty cheap for what you get.
Boxsets = saving money.

I think maybe I used pirating in the wrong sense. I more or less meant that I download them off the internet like through btjunkie or torrent reactor. I use that word for downloading too. I can see the confusion.

I haven't bought any Anime DVD's for roughly about five years, all the stuff that's coming out in the US now I've already watched the subbed versions of it long before. (Crunchyroll.com)
Anime is far too expensive.

If I was to buy anime rather than watch it online, I wouldn't have enough money to catch the bus to college or even to buy food.
