I have always wondered where the name came from, and now that I know, I can't help but laugh! XD It's a little ironic how the origin of the name of such a depressing anime is so incredibly hilarious.

Thanks for that piece of information! I was seriously thinking about that forever. Clannad was the first anime I've ever watched and I was thinking Clannad might have been the disease or where they lived or something but that makes so much more sense since it sounds very.. calming. Haha the word sounds like it should be family or friend or something along those lines.
