Really no age is "too old" for anime in my opinion

But you'll notice that as you age your anime preferences will change as will how you act towards it will change

You know, I don't know.

A year ago I'd be like "NEVAR! I'LL ALWAYS LOVE IT!!!!111!" but now, I'm really not into the fandom any more. I go to my college's anime club and enjoy what they show, but I'm not actually attempting to watch more series, because, honestly, they're cartoons. Most of them are meant for kids. Or young'un's of all types.

I guess it just depends on your age/maturity. I still like some manga (my love for Emma: A Victorian Romance shall NEVER die. NEVER.), but I've moved on and have other things I love (JPop idols are my thing now).

It all depends.

And this is exactly the sort of reaction I'm talking about. Are you freaked out because he likes anime at 51, or because he or she is ON GAIA at 51? Being 23, i have little issue with the more seasoned folks being involved in the fandom, too. If they weren't or couldn't be, what would happen to the current generation of anime fans, or comic fans, or video game fans? Will they be as ostracized as the above poster just for doing something they enjoy that doesn't really cause anyone any harm?

I was reacting that the person is 51 and is ... well.
It's just odd. Period. That someone that is 51 is on the internet.. and.. on a social networking site and even GAIA.

It was just shocking that someone is that and and whatever.

I can't ever see myself or anyother anime fans not likeing anime as they get older.
The only thing that I think well happen is having different taste in anime.

I dont think that age could be a barrier, especially, because there are animes which have far more matured main storylines than most of the popular american series. You musnt think that anime/manga is only kid's series just because its drawn...
But also, what's wrong with liking children's stories? For example, most adult people like the original Disney movies and adults also go with their children to see animated movies and they ENJOY it.The only problem is that many people, don't speak about it openly because they think it's embarassing...

As old as you want to be, there is no age limit for watching anime and reading manga. As long as you enjoy it, the keep on watching and reading for as long as you want.

Sure kid shows are aimed at kids, but some still like watching it. Also, older people might enjoy josei and senin series as that demographic is aimed for young adults.

I imagine that by the time this generation or the next one grows up and comes in power, it'll seem much less awkward to hear about people up in their late 30's and so on enjoying anime and manga.

I'm 23 now, and I avidly enjoy both. <3
