Though I definately think that everyone, no matter their age, can enjoy manga and anime (whatever age group it's made for), I suppose I must agree that it is frowned upon (at least in the US) by the time you're 30 or so.

My friend's dad is 38 and he still watches anime. He also doesn't have a life, a girlfriend, or friends for that matter.

that's younger than my older brother. he still watches anime, has a college education, a wife, three kids, and he just got a new job (he lost his old one after his tunnel vision got really bad, but now that he has better corrective lenses he found a new job where his vision issues will be less of a problem). his wife has a steady job, too, and he and her are both well respected members of their religious community (they're Asatru and they actually manage to be respected by both the classic purists and the neo-Asatru, which is no small feat since the neopagan communities can have more drama between them than some of the Christian subtypes - it can make the interactions between Christians and neopagans look sane).

some of what he watches he watches with his kids, but he also watches some stuff by himself. and he's ALWAYS been a huge comic fan.

it probably depends on the anime you watch

if you watch hamtaro at 51, lets face it your going to be bored

but if you watch a better seinin *lol, i think thats how you spell it* , which is an anime for adults , you probably can get more involved/understanding of the story

And this is exactly the sort of reaction I'm talking about. Are you freaked out because he likes anime at 51, or because he or she is ON GAIA at 51? Being 23, i have little issue with the more seasoned folks being involved in the fandom, too. If they weren't or couldn't be, what would happen to the current generation of anime fans, or comic fans, or video game fans? Will they be as ostracized as the above poster just for doing something they enjoy that doesn't really cause anyone any harm?

It's just odd. Period. That someone that is 51 is on the internet.. and.. on a social networking site and even GAIA.

I'm 24 and I love anime...I think I'll always love anime.

But to your question:

It depends on what anime you are watching and what age you are. Such as anyone under the age of 16 is going to like lil kid animes such as Pokemon, hamtaro, etc

Those of the age 18 and over will be more interested in animes that have more violence, romance and of course nudity.

Now in my case watching lil kid animes bores me unless I'm with my youngest cousins (they love Pokemon and I don't mind watching it with them). I'm more into the action/adventure/romance/comedy kind of animes like D.Grayman, Elfen Lied, Vampire Knight, DearS, Utawarerumono, Noein, Fruits Basket, Vision of Escaflowne, and Initial D.

There is no age limit; that's like saying there's an age limit for liking movies, or rock music.

There is a perceived age limit. If you're im your mid-20s and older, it seems, then liking anime automatically makes you a recluse and a freak until proven otherwise.

There is no age limit to liking something. They either move on to something different, or they continue to enjoy it--no matter what anyone else says. But then there are people who try to "fit in" and be like everyone else. Such as believing that there is an age limit, due to the way people act and how they feel.
