Well, it's one of those different strokes for different folks types of things. It's a take on world history. More of a satire/parody since they make fun of things. They tend to take the most "well known" stereotypes from each country and use it in the series.

Yeah, there are some actual points in history they give the dates talk about it etc. But, if you get into it I will stress this: please, do not use Hetalia as a history book. Some fans do. Just please don't.

Though I must say that England's voice was good.
I actually wasn't pleased with England's voice at first (nor that they called him Britain, but apparently that was a request made by Hima) until Scott said in an interview that he did the stereotypical "Stewie" English on purpose. Since then I haven't minded it so much...I just hope he PRONOUNCES most of Britain's words the way the English do...like "Garage". In North America we pronounce it "ga-rauge" (rhyming with mirage) but in England it's pronounce "GARE- age" (nearly rhyming with 'carriage".)

I wanna get cuddled by Russia. 4laugh
Can't say I agree though I'd love to play a game of chess with him (though he'll probably beat the pants off me).

Well, to be honest, I only watched the first episode then didn't continue since Russia's English dub voice was driving me crazy, I did not heed any more attention to that, but now that you said it, I agree.
I recently came up with a cosplay idea. Flapper fem!America.

I imagine a blue bodice with white star appliques and red and white fringe on the skirt.

...I just enjoy how Hetalia is a parody of countries (their stereotypes) and to some extent history. I know that it is not "real" history, but it does give a fun perspective to look at the past on which it is based. There are the awesome fans that produce wonderful artwork and videos- I am very attached to the historical stuff ex. this

OHOHOHOHOHOHO! Speaking of that video and the Seven Year's War, here's a small history lesson that I think you people will be quite entertained with:

So we all know about the Seven Year's War in history. It's named that because during the years between 1756 and 1763 there were like a billion other wars going on between the whole world, from America to the Philippines. It's some messed up crap. But this period ended with the Third Silesian War between Austria and Prussia, which basically ended with Austria being horribly defeated and everything going Prussia's way. This fueled the hate and anger between the "nations" until the Austro-Prussian War of 1866.

The 1866 war is very intriguing because they were basically fighting over Holy Rome's corpse, but I think that is a discussion for another time emotion_yatta

Nice biggrin , interesting piece of history- sadly, Austria was defeated again in 1866. For the Seven Weeks War (1866), here's another nice video

That's and interesting idea. I don't think that the Roaring Twenties was covered all that much in the comic either, so that take on it (especially from the Nyotalia/female side) would be fairly awesome. =D

For more history, I have a nice picture of the Italy Bros. and their fight for independence from Austria, along with their alliance with Prussia.

It's a pretty fantastic piece, and I love the uniforms. It was done using mostly traditional tools too. :3

Why thank you biggrin

And I'm really curious about the song too. Part of me thinks it's gonna be pure instrumental and in the end Canada insists that he was singing the entire time, but then it's revealed that he sings like angels and they had to censor it or else they'd kill everyone who listens to the godly sound coming form his vocal chords-

What the hell did I just say? eek

XD I actually like Jerry Jewel as Russia - though I can see why some people might not be too happy. It feels like Russia's personality got a bit less "innocent".

D < They better mention hockey and poutine!!

;-; Sorry, I have high expectations. Hima (or whoever wrote the song) has had a considerable amount of time to research popular Canadian culture so...I'm sure hoping it's good.

It's one o' those serieses that's got all sorts of quirks and is pretty easy to get into. Even the people that I've talked to that hated the series said they actually liked the first season. It helps that it doesn't require a lot of time to give it a try, so it's easy to get sucked into. Plus, the first episode was brilliant in that it gives you about a minute of what the whole show is about (well, kind of about).

For me, I think I watched the whole first season in about one or two days. I'd watched about half of the season before realizing what even happened...and there was a Machiavelli joke in there that had me dying from laughter. After that I was hooked. Plus, the dub was one of the best ones I'd seen in a while. Of course, I hadn't seen the sub, but when I watched that, it was like getting two times the series. Both have their little bits of gold, yeh know? (The trailers for America's Storage Room Cleaning...well...the engrish man...THE ENGRISH!)

Plus, Booberry's tots right. I've always been a bit of a history fanatic, so it appeals to my inner geek. The little blurbs or info led me to read up on more information about certain wars. Add that to the fact that you can create so many stories and such about each war, using these characters, it adds certain levels of depth to everyone's favorite characters.

Hmm, maybe when I get my new labtop I'll take a radical sabbatical and watch it.
