Arcadel
In time they won't even be subtle anymore rolleyes

"Spaztic-sidekick-character-that's-not-as-important-as-me-but-is-still-required-for-comic-relief-san! We need to go save Girl-who's-distraught-because-she's-in-love-with-more-than-one-man-but-can't-decide-who-she-really-wants-even-though-we-both-know-she'll-end-up-with-me-because-I-have-more-lines-chan!

She's caught in the clutches of Sterotypical-cackling-bad-guy!"

Gohan was Goku's grandpa's name.

I can tolerate those names though. Maybe even accept it, when you hear the phrase "Happy fun go time yes!"

What the fadiddly?
nope i think its just u
nah i find whats more disturbing are names like
Plum, Mint, and things like that
In the characters of Wolf's Rain, the the four wolves are named after wolf attributes (Fang, Howl, etc). In Hellsing, Alucard is an anagram of Dracula (backwards).
But also this happens in manga. One Piece - Captain Kuro (Captain Black), Inu Yasha - Miryoku (Charm)
Even in the one I'm working on the names have a meaning.

I suppose there are lots like that, but you can't blame 'em. The names work.
Nope... the creator of that anime must have thought that that name is suitable for that anime. so yeah
Kagome-chan13
I have noticed the InuYasha means female dog demon *laughs* lol

and Naraku means hel* lol
bieme_digiet
I no Kagome means Reencarnation!!!

really? oh i thought it meant bamboo pattern or something! lol
Well, wouldn't it make sense to name them like that?

I no Kagome means Reencarnation!!!

REALLY?? i didn't know that.. lol wow eek
A couple of things:
The name Kagome comes from a Japanese children's game. As far as I knew the word was nonsensical. I of course could be wrong.
As for Inu-Yasha's name (Gods I wish I remembered what book this was, some official guide to the series):
I believe in either the Chinese or the Hindu beliefs there was a god called Yaksa, who was evil. As Buddhism spread East, to Japan, Yaksa took on a more benevolent personality. In his final incarnation in Japan, the name became Yasha and he represented the balance of both the good and evil aspects of his personality. Thus when Takahashi Sama chose the name for the dog-boy of her comic, this seemed the natural choice, as Inu-Yasha eventually has to come to terms with his human and demonic heritage.
This is what I read about that.
As for DBZ, the Saijins are named after foods, Bulma and her family are named after underwear, and the Nameks are named after snails for the most part. And allegedly, ChiChi means breasts. xp I think this personally extended from Toriyama San's laziness. whee
No matter what language your name is in, it's going to have some sort of meaning. So it's not that Japanese characters have weird names, but because names are just like that. In English, it's harder to really see the meaning behind a name, but in Chinese and Japanese, it's much easier. Most Japanese names are in kanji (Chinese characters) and each kanji has a different meaning, so every anime character's name has some sort of meaning. Unless your name is "asdjo8w3ur023sdf" or something, there's going to have a meaning or origin somewhere.

Some examples would be the name "Luna" which means "moon," and the name "Linda" which means "pretty."
(I have no clue how to spell half of these or if these are right)

Dragon Ball Z:

Vageta: Vegitable
Kakorate: Carrot
Piccalo: I think means Piccalo or Pickle...you know green.
Gohan:Rice

Is it apparent that the creator of Dragon Ball Z liked food? All the others have said the ones I know.
Have u ever noticed that Kyo Sohma from fruits basket is the all time best!!!!!!!!! biggrin biggrin heart biggrin heart biggrin heart biggrin biggrin
