Okay to cover your first few question: Yes, Fate/stay Night started as an adult visual novel. Think a choose your own adventure book, with pretty backgrounds and character portraits displaying who's talking dialogue. You make choices, and get a number of endings based on them (many of them being "bad" endings). It happened to feature detailed sex scenes as well as associated imagery, giving it an adult rating. Because you don't sell porn to kids.

Mind you, the whole thing isn't porn or anything. The story's actually quite nice, and quite lengthy at that. I'd say the sexual content makes up maybe 15% of the whole thing. Maybe a little more, given Heavens' Feel.

Most of it's pretty easy to skip over though.

I'd thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend reading through the visual novel first. The DEEN adaptation was literally garbage, both the anime and the UBW movie (the latter being nothing more than a shiny, two hour long music video).

There are two issues: One, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on an actual copy of it, you'll have to dabble in doing things a way that I can't tell you much about. Pirate it. That's what I'm saying.

Two, you'll have to patch it with Mirror Moon's english patch. that part's not against the rules or anything.

Play the visual novel through.

I wouldn't say 15%. For a 48 hour long game, I spent less than 30 minutes on the sex scenes. I'm just counting the four main sex scenes, not the other content of a sexual nature.

I was going with most of the stuff of a sexual nature really. The major scenes are very much limited though, yeah.
liked it. ending made me want to cry. much recommend. very good. so anime! emotion_dowant

Play the game. The sex scenes make up less than 1% of the game. There are 4 sex scenes, which you can skip through. You just need to know that they've had sex.

Don't watch the earlier adaption of Fate/Stay Night. The unanimous fanbase opinion is that it is a horrible adaption. You can wait for the ufotable adaption of the second route starting October, but it is highly recommended to play the first route before the second.

I got into FTN not so long ago so Im not gonna be able to answer all
your questions but I can try and help!

I know the Fate Series has games and visual novels.
it's like a big world, where it has many routes. there's even few different anime
adaptations from this series.

FSN I think it came out at 2006.
then few more later (i think its 2011) Fate Zero comes out.
that is the ''prequel'' but it's more like 10 yrs earlier than FSN.

so my opinion/POV, since I started to get into this series late, my one
first mistake was to watch fate zero first and then when I decide to watch
FSN I was very disappointed (even if it's the sequel storyline)

what you can do is, still watch Fate Zero, then wait for FSN remake that is
coming out this fall, with better graphics and I heard few routes changes too?
I'm not sure.

about the manga, I only read Fate Zero manga and it's not completed
seems like the author drop it. I guess FSN has a manga too?

but yeah, I suggest to watch fatezero anyway, to have a knowledge of the past
and all this issues with spirits and mages. and better understanding
10 yrs later to a different generation. especially the protagonist of FTN

TLDR

very helpful thanks!

sorry to bother you, forgot to ask. is there a manga? is it any good?

There is a manga but it's been a few years since I touched it. I'm not sure if it follows the same path the first anime adaptation took (which would be bad) but if you have an urgent need to satisfy your curiosity, then feel free to give it a read.

thanks again ^ ^

I hear the VN is amazing and I have still yet to play it what the ******** am I doing and I'm pretty sure there are 15+ versions in English but I'm not sure where you can find them.

If you're not interested in playing the visual novel, you should just wait for the new anime adaptation that's airing this Fall season.

Is there an anime before the one coming in fall?

Fate Zero is a prequel that came out a few years ago. I thought it was quite enjoyable but there are a few references you might not completely understand without any prior knowledge.

There's an older Fate Stay Night adaptation but it is not very good; wait for the newer one.

ok cool thanks!

edit: I'll see if I find the visual novel and see if I can find a 15+ one. It's not that I am too young for an adult version, it's just that adult anime is not interesting to me at all.

Hey I know NOTHING of this show "fate/stay night" I keep seeing Saber figures in an anime website I check and I just saw this youtube trailer that looked really cool

here it is for reference :

I also went to wikipedia and it says it started as an adult visual game? Adult how? I don't want hentai/yaoi/yuri. I don't mind violence gore and minimal nudity, but not interested in sex scenes.

So where should I start with this series? What came first? Is that adult game worth it?

Please no major spoilers!

edit: also is there a manga should I read it?
