Well, traditionally, it is meant for kids. Take Inuyasha as an example. Here in North Amercia, it is rated for "older youth content", but in Japan the onyl ones that watch it would be 4-6 year olds. I know this because I talk to people in Japan and when they came here they were actually laughing at us.

No, its not. Do you even know what REAL anime is? Go to Suncoast and look at all the anime they have. Im not talking about Yu-gi-oh or retarded pokemon, i mean like Trigun, Inuyasha, Gravitation, Chobits, Love Hina, Negima-shall i go on? There are MILLIONS AND ZILLIONS of anime. Alot are rated for 17+. So i dont know what your talking about. xp
Ok, so I didnt read the whole first post but I understood the point. I dont know a lot of people that actually have read or seen manga / anime for as long as me ( over 10 yrs now)
but when I first started reading manga, most people didn't knew what it was and I could blame it all on the main stream shows, but still I think it's a good way for people to be introduce by anime.
anime and manga are good for the soul xd xd xd xd
Perhaps you should ignore the silly people that make you mad. It shouldn't effect you. At least know that you are more knowledgable in the wider variety of manga and anime than them.
Well Ive read alot of the posts so far about how people say anime is for kids. Thats not true. Japan is more open minded when it comes to what children see which I wish we would be like here in America but the gov. thinks if kids see just a bit of blood or if they hear the word "Damn" then its ruining them. As if they dont hear and see this every day at school. But there are many anime in japan and in other countries that are not just for kids Fullmetal Alchemists i guess i could say is one of them. I do not know the general audience for FMA over in japan but here in america its very bloody and for most younger kids to even understand what they were talking about half of the time they would have to dumb it down to some extreams here. There are other ones out there but I was jsut useing one example and Im sure many of you can think of some on your own. ^_^
You've made some good suggestions and all for this topic. Now I'm going over to my n00bish-friend, giving him your post, and see how he feels. I hope he begins to realize such things. -sighs- (And that he's completely immature, for his age. It's really surprising. (He's 8th, but still . . .) Must be the hormones and such they put into the chicken. >> -mumble mumble- )
well said I guess. but I don't have a problem of people who yell out that they love ^Insert name of fave anime character here^ they're makeing a fool of them selves not me and why the hell do you care what other people think or do? some people like it some people don't and if there weren't those people who yell out I LOVE ^insert name of favorite anime character here^! then I wouldn't have anyone to laugh at and or run up to them and say YES I agree!

Well, other fans may become frustrated with other fans' actions for the same thing, then coping with the teasing later on by others later.

wow. I'm glad some people have optimism here. ^^ I thought everything was spiralling-downward, in other words, everything going emo/such by others giving off negativity/offensive remarks because they can't grasp positivity. -sighs- People who can't grasp that need help.

eep. I'm rambling. x.x;

I was under the impression that anime is for kids.
It was originally made for children, even though nowadays
there's alot of series made especially for adults.

For example, series like Naruto, Inuyasha, and DBZ are more kid oriented
while shows like Gantz, Akira, and Desert Punk are more adult-themed.

Kids in Japan are able to subject themselves to more "adult themes" such as violence, language, and sex more than kids in other countries, which is why violence filled Naruto is for children, not adults, even though adults watch that show too.
