I think they should stop trying to catch up with Nickelodeon and Disney and just exploit the niche they've already created for themselves to it's fullest extent. You'd think the morons in charge would realize that they have virtually uncontested control over the cartoon market here in the US, and that their opportunity to be like the other two networks passed ten years ago. No matter what they do they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of ever catching up to them in those regards, so why bother?
Really, I'm just waiting for this to fail. CN has never been known for having any good live-action series, and I doubt these new ones will be any different unless they are willing to make some changes. *Shrug*

i couldnt agree more!

I actually don't watch CN anymore. I stick to buying my anime from places like FYE. I generally watch amvs or trailers to preview an anime or read the manga, since my local library actually carries manga. And if I don't like the series I can either sell it (since it stays in tact) or donate to the library.

I never thought CN played that great of anime anyways. At least, in recent years. When I was younger they played better stuff. (Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon were pretty much what I remember watching though.)

Edit: The whole CN real thing seems somewhat stupid. <.< I mean....cartoonnetwork, means cartoons.
but it's "cartoon" network. not "live-action" network sad
Don't worry too much...

I stopped caring when they cancelled Dexter's Lab.

Let 'em do what they will. Eventually they'll hit rock bottom and either die or go back to their old formula.

My balance, like a checkerboard, is not symetrical.
But my life, like a game of checkers, is one hell of a fun one.

I honestly don't care anymore.
After the real Tom left it never was the same.

I agree with you there : / I lost interest after the old Tom was booted... it pissed me off so much back then. Now I couldnt give a s**t.

When CN started copying Slime Time LIVE off of Nickelodeon and named their show "Fridays", everything started going down the drain.

I still love CN, but I really don't watch it anymore. There's too many new shows and not enough time to keep up with them all. neutral I just watch AS now for their Saturday block and whenever Family Guy is on. That's it for me.

The problem with their new cartoons is that their humor is only directed towards what kids would find funny. Yes, that is the point, but when Looney Tunes were made, their humor was directed towards adults. And look! They're hilarious! If CN would just gear their cartoons' humor more towards an older audience without the profanities and bloody violence, you got yourself a nice cartoon right there. Write what YOU think is funny, not what kids would think is funny.

There's my two cents. sweatdrop
CN has now entered the modern MTV phase of it's life, where it will prepare for a slow, painful removal of everything the channel once stood for and will eventually be a shell of it's former self.

I only watch Adult Swim now. After Toonami went away, the rest of it, with the exception of Adult Swim, went down hill.

I miss the old days when they showed GOOD things on that channel... crying

When you think of CN, you think of cartoons and anime right? For many of us, CN first gave us a taste of the world of Western and Japanese animation. A love that stays with many of us to this very day.

But recently, CN has began changing, getting rid of toonami, and getting "Hipper" more intune with the kids. With animated teen dramas like TDI and Sixteen.

That and Rap.

And to attract teens even more, CN is getting ready for "Cartoon Network real" A live action show block.

CN is moving away from animation and more towards reality tv.

But its not all bad news, Cn has just announced, Sym-bionic Titan, a giant robot show by Samurai Jack Creator Genndy Tartakovsky.

So folks, how do you feel about the changes coming to CN, like it or not, it looks like we'll be seeing less animation and anime.

Discuss:
-The direction in which Cartoon Network is heading.
-How do you feel about CN's current programming? I like the move towards action oriented shows like Batman: The Brave and the Bold and The Secret Saturdays.

I like the move towards more action-oriented shows; though I hate the fact that said "action" is tamer than previous years or what'd you see on Adult swim.

1. With that said, Adult Swim is pretty much the only reason besides Ben 10 I still watch their network. (but hey, they have to go where the money's at I guess)

2. Cartoon Network, since it's moving towards more live-action, is going to drop the "Cartoon" part of its name.

If Brave and the Bold gets canned, and TDI keeps going, I will rage.

Looking forward to Sym-bionic Titan though.

The Brave and the Bold cartoon is terrible though.

It's just something I can't really stand. I don't like the way it's animated, and the worst part is the guy who's doing the voice for Batman. ******** Keanu Batman.

You're probably not used to a Batman that is not Grimdark and growly voice.

That or you're not a comic fan.

I'm not the biggest Batman fan. It's kinda hard to get used to a voice that isn't the one from Batman: The Animated Series for me.

When it comes to the comics, I don't get a chance to read them very often (I'm broke and have no way to pay for the comics. D: ), I do have a general idea of what's going on with them however.

But you can't say that having rex kwan do doing the voice for batman isn't awesome.

I freaking love Hoss Delgado Batman. I'm saving that pic, Amigobear.

Also, I wonder if one day we'll be calling Cartoon Network "CN" and only CN without any thought as to what CN even stands for.
