I just bawled when Franz died in Gankutsuou. It was just....tragic but very touching too. It just kills me that he was so scared before and during the duel, but in the end when he was dying and he knew that his sacrifice had kept Albert safe, he didn't regret it at all. He just had the most gentle look on his face when Albert was holding him...;-;
So much sadder because I really do think that Franz was in love with Albert. There were an awful lot of hints....even if that was not the case, he still gave his life for his best friend. Very sad.

its not my fave. death scene, but its just the first one i can think of off the top of my head-
when Kira/Light died in Death Note-i was sooooo damn...happy. I was hoping that lunatic would end up sleepin with the fishes (though i read the manga before, so i wasn't greatly surprised from the ending)

Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi. Just when we were learning so much about his past and delving so deep into his character! T-T

Kikyo's ACTUAL death in the recent manga (not in the anime) was pretty hardcore too! *sniffu*

His death was overshadowed by that weeping, attention-stealing dipwad, Miaka. I like Kikyou's death in the anime and in the manga, but yeah, manga's hardcore.

Personally, I think the best death scene is Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist. He almost got away with living to, until he was so quickly impaled. (yeah, yeah, gate, whatever, he still died.) that or Maes Hughes from FMA because he was winning and then the homunculus just turns into his wife and runs him through.

deffinately when hughes in FMA died. the funeral scene was so sad when his daughter kept on crying out that her dad had to go to work and couldn't be burried.
