Another Raito/Light Question

(Yes. I'm starting another Death Note thread, as much as I hate these things.)

Okay, so Raito is how the Japanese pronounce the English word Light. Now the creator even has written down that Light Yagami's name is indeed romanized "Light". So why is it that some fans still insist on calling him Raito? And it's not like his name is written 「ライト」, but 「月」, which means something else entirely but is only read that first way. Can anyone explain this one?

(Also on an entirely different note, what normal Japanese family would seriously name their child Light, even if it's written Tsuki?)

That's the thing though. His original is "Light". Just pronounced differently. I think I'd get annoyed personally if someone kept writing my name down wrong.

I do the same with Al from FMA - I write it 'Aru'.
And the name 'Light' sounds faggoty anyways.

But Al's a nickname. Light is Light's full name. Also I'd kinda see that as biased in my opinion.

I fail to see how that makes a difference. The information book on Death Note uneditted in the original Japanese version still has it Light.

It's not that they can't pronounce it, it's that their language doesn't really call for it, so it can be interchangeable with the more used R.

It just depends how obssesive you are, I guess.
