General Posting Guidelines

Please be sure to follow the Terms of Service and Rules and Guidelines here, as in all forums.

-Spamming: Image spamming is absolutely not tolerated. As amusing as you might think you are, you aren't! This includes, but is not limited to, posting fail macros, or other internet memes in misplaced threads. Also, off-topic chatter should be kept to a minimum. Remember, all threads should have discussion pertaining to a topic related to Anime, Manga or comics (also cartoons).

-Copyrights: Requesting or providing links to copyrighted materials such as: manga, television shows, anime etc, is not permitted! The only exception to this rule is official media provided by the owner or publisher, such as official streams.

-Spoilers: it is common courtesy to provide spoiler warnings and/or hide them within white text when discussing them. Maliciously or repeatedly posting spoilers in order to ruin someone's enjoyment of a manga or anime is considered trolling and is a bannable offense.

-Flaming: Do not flame users for any reason! Flaming often involves name-calling and insults, and will only result in you being warned. Please keep all your discussions civil. Pictoflaming, similar to image macro spamming, is not tolerated. Please keep your amusing image macros to yourselves and attempt to discuss in a civil manner

Rules & Guidelines for Posting in AMC

1. Please use the stickies. Any thread that covers a topic that fits into a sticky will be removed.
2. AMC has 6 subforums for specific aspects of discussion. Please see if a thread would better fit into a subforum before posting it in the main forum. See the stickies in the subforums for more detailed guidelines on what belongs there.

  • Anime Series & Movies
Discuss anything related to an anime series or movie that has not aired on US television.
  • TV Anime
Discussion for more popular anime airing on Cartoon Network, 4KidsTV or other basic stations within North America (ie. Inuyasha, Dragonball Z, etc).
  • Manga
Threads related to published Japanese manga, mangaka and art style. (Discussion of unpublished works belongs in Comic Creators though).
  • Comic Discussion
Threads related to western comic books, super heroes, and characters. (ie. Batman, Superman, X-Men, etc).
  • Cosplay/Conventions
Discussion for cosplay and convention activities, along with costume construction, official Gaia gatherings, and more.
  • Animation/Cartoons
Threads related to any cartoon that is not Japanese anime (ie: Simpsons, Teen Titans, Disney movies).

3. Regarding Hentai/Yaoi/Yuri: Discussion about hentai/yaoi/yuri should be kept at a reasonable and Gaia-appropriate level. It should not include behavior or language soliciting explicit activities, cybering, or threads created for the sole purpose to spam. Posting pornographic images, links to pornographic images and/or fiction as well as other adult related material are not permitted in AMC or anywhere else on Gaia.

5. Copyrighted Material: Regarding downloads, threads having links to web sites or other resources containing illegal downloads or streaming episodes of anime and/or manga are not permitted on the forums. Asking for or giving out such content is a warnable offense and any topics or posts created for such a purpose will be removed. Note: Linking to a site that contains copyrighted materials, even if you aren't linking to the materials in question, i.e. a picture gallery when the site contains a media page with downloads of manga, is still considered linking to copyrighted materials and a ToS violation. Any and all threads asking for download links of any sort will be removed from the forum and the creator warned if necessary. The only exception to this rule will be sites with streaming episodes that are officially provided by the original or licensing companies. (e.g. toonamijetstream.com)

6. Regarding "Official" Threads: We'd like to stress the fact that outside of the stickies, and the threads highlighted within the stickies (should there be any) there are no "Official" threads in AMC. All threads that bear the title "Official" and are not mentioned in said stickies, or a sticky themselves, are nothing more then user created threads, ones which are equally redundant as the topics without the "official" indicator.

7. Live action adaptations: Threads specifically discussing live action adaptations of series belong in Entertainment Discussion.
What does not belong in AMC?

Below are some things that are not explicitly covered in the other stickies and are no longer allowed in AMC-

"Non-topic" Anime Threads: All "non-topic" threads will be moved to the either the Chatterbox or Recycle Bin as spam. "Non-topic" threads are threads whose first post basically consists of:
  • "Has anyone seen/read <show/comic>?"
  • "Does anyone like <show/comic/character>?"
  • "What do you think of <show/comic>?"
  • "I love/hate <show/comic/character>"
  • "Does anyone remember <show>?"
  • "Is anyone watching/reading <show/comic>?"
  • "What show/character is this?"
  • "What show is <character> from?"
  • "Recommend me an anime"
  • similar one line response topics
If it can be answered in a poll, it probably isn't appropriate for AMC.

"Ban Anime Petition" Threads: There have been threads where people are linking to petitions to either ban anime or save anime from being banned. These petitions are a hoax! In no way is anime going to be banned. These threads usually create panic, anger, and can also cause a flame war. If these threads are created in AMC they will either be moved to the Recycle Bin or even deleted, so please do not make these types of threads.

"Anime Definition" Threads: There have been threads wherein users attempt to define the word "anime" in various ways. These threads are arguing semantics in order to upset the other half of the fanbase. Along the same lines, "Is <show> anime?" and "<show> is anime" are not appropriate for AMC. If you can find the show here, then it is considered a Japanese cartoon. If you can not, then it is not considered a Japanese cartoon. All threads on these topics will be removed from the forum.

Versus Threads: Versus threads are not allowed in AMC Main as well as the Anime Series & Movies, TV Anime and Manga subforums. This decision was made after thoroughly discussing a number of factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, the fact that a growing number of versus threads were veiled attempts at trolling, the increasing number of reports concerning abuse coming from within these threads (even in the non-borderline trolling cases) and also the declining effort put into creating and replying to these threads. Multiple solutions were considered when coming to this decision, but as none of them proved feasible, the decision to ban versus threads from most of AMC was reached.

Spoof Thread Titles: Spoofed thread titles are not allowed in AMC. All threads using "spoofed titles" will be removed from the forum as either trolling or spam.

Report Hacking, Scamming or Abuse & Harassment?

The Hacking, Scamming and Abuse or Harassment report forms can be found at the bottom of the forum index. When submitting a report, ensure that you fill out all fields and include as much relevant information as possible.

    Report A Hacking
Use this form to report a Hacking. Hacking, on Gaia Online, refers to the unauthorized access of an account by someone other than the account owner. In most typical hacking cases, an unauthorized person enters an account which does not belong to him or her and takes items or gold from the account, often changing the account information so that the original owner can no longer access his or her account.

    Report A Scamming
Use this form to report a Scamming. Scamming is when another member of Gaia takes your gold or items, or tries to take your gold or items, by making false promises of giving you rare items, get-rich-quick schemes, or by any other deceptive means. Scamming generally involves a situation in which two members of Gaia make an arrangement to trade gold, items, or a Gaia approved service (e.g. avatar art commission) with each other and then one of the parties involved in the arrangement fails to live up to his or her promise of an exchange.

    Report Abuse or Harassment
Use this form to report ongoing Abuse or Harassment. If you are reporting harassment or abuse that is occurring directly in a thread, please use the "Report This Post" button instead.
