Eh, those people seem a bit harsh. I really don't know what to say, though, because I've never had to put up with that. Most every school I've been in, over half the student body liked some form of anime or another. Guess I just have it easy.

I agree. Anime certainly isn't cool by most standards. I love it, but it's still very geeky and obscure. And I dare say that I like it that way.

I haven't had to deal much with stereotyping and teasing, I started watching it in high school. I'm in college now where people really don't care much what you like-- and I've found myself a happy little clique of fellow geeks to hang around with.

Anyway-- again, interesting post.

I love anime and I don't care if I show it.
I bring mangas to school, draw in class (when I'm finished my work) and talk abot it with people.
But that's not the only thing I'm interested in. I can understand people getting annoyed with people who only talk about anime and nothing else.
But people who show interest in other things and have a life outside of anime don't deserve to be riticuled.
Being teased about liking something is the worst feeling ever, and you obviously don't deserve it.
The people around you must have gotten their image of people who like anime from those girls in your class.

Well, tons of people in my school read/watch manga/anime.

You're only considered weird when you start to wear anime-related shirts every day... and when you have claws.

Anime is what keeps me from being bored. Usually I just ignore whoever blurts out their dislike for anime and you should too. Just don't care about what they think, watching anime/reading manga is much better than flipping thru brain-less girl magazines and watching every Brad Pitt movie or whatever non-anime liking people do XD But that's just me.

At my school, I am known as the anime girl. The teachers say in class sometimes; "Manga girls, be quiet." I had the same problem as you, the whole, they think you ONLY like anime. It really pisses me off. What I do is stand up for what I like, and I started an Anime Club. From then on, people began to ask questions and not bother me as much. They actually seemed interested.

everyone just seems to ignore me when I'm reading manga, or they peek over my shoulder when i'm drawing and say "yo did you draw that" or "did you draw that"
"you copied because you can't draw"(which I can sweatdrop ) or something like that... But yeah....
No one got on my back because I read manga. I think I actually made friends because of it ^^;

there just gelouse... no but realy most people don't care... i've learned that. i used to be scared to show my anime stuff cause i thought people would say s**t but now im not. the only person i get that kinda crap from is my friend who is just as opssesed war and the government as those girls were with anime, which in my opinion is worse. so yeah i don't really worry about it.

Yeah, Anime is hard for people to understand...they all just think it's yu-gi-ho or Pokemon. I think like it.so I'm not that of a freak and I do not talk about anime all the time....just most of the time with my friends that do know. we even have a table just for us, I sometimes call it a geek table but I was just teasing -.- but at my school like in advisery, people in my class was so desperate for a manga other an "Best Friend" they think it's pretty neat and awsome of the charater's style too =) But we have no club -.-

1. no anime isn't bad.
2. people who make a point of harrassing you over anime are nazi/clan members and should be ignored
3.there nazi/clan members and wish to control the world

I don't really get picked on that much. Because of the way I am, either they don't know I like it, they do and try and pick on me but I act like It's nothing, or they don't really care. I'm not the type to bring stuff to school or over talk about it. A lot of people don't know I like it.
