That is a sad news. I don't know what to say or think about it. Is not lik everyone have access to cable. Interenet maybe. Cost is the always the problem for me when it come to buy anime. Most of the time I picking. I like to watch them on tv before buying. In other if it my taste of anime. or wast of my money. I feel like some anime company such ADV take forever to translate them in English and picking what anime should be license. i can't wait forever and sometime they not good as you want the audio to be.

I can't go on in a world without Light...

People should buy their DVDS, then. Big whoop.

Well, I'd imagine it would be pretty dark...

There are going to be the same amount of anime that there always will be. When a few companys fall, it just leads to tighter standards for publishers, which means better anime for us.

If people watching anime online is to blame for the industry slowly falling apart in the US, then I counter with the statement that lousy dub's are the reason we watch it online instead of purchasing it.

Something lost..

..Can never be returned.

Well...umm...I really didn't know about Geneon dying until right now. Guess I haven't been keeping up, huh? It's pretty sad I suppose, but it's just the way things are, so I'm going to get over it. I don't really see it as the impending doom to all anime companies everywhere. I've watched quite a lot of anime subbed online [ooooh piracy! I'm killing the industry] but seriously, It's generally only for preview purposes. I'm not going to buy an overpriced DVD of an anime I've never ever seen before. It's the same wit mos books, movies, and cds, etc. for me. The only time I did that was with Azumanga Daioh, but that's because I didn't think it was overpriced....[it had five episodes on it, instead of just three]. Anyway, I always end up buying any series I love, hence why I own like six different series...

I don't think I own one that is licensed by Geneon though...oh wait...nevermind. The very first series I bought was licensed by Pioneer. Then again, that series is now licensed by FUNi. razz

We all know this. Anyway Newtype USA technically did not die, it just got reformatted into a general entertainment magazine so that it has a broader audience.

Well if you base it on the vibe you get from Gaia then it's all really about cartoon sex these days. American audiences aren't mature enough for anime and have become fixated on something that is causing anime in the US to collapse in on itself. It's all predictable now

As dumb as that sounds I hate to say that that's actually the case with many fans. They think companies like Geneon are what ruined anime and are happy to see them dead.
yup

Most anime DVDs have Japanese audio, so hating dubs is no excuse.

Only most dubs are not lousy anymore and DVDs include the original japanese version so that fails.

A/M/C you were right about the GD ._.

You know I bet almost every one in this thread who's QQing over fansubs actually secretly watches them but they won't ever admit it because that would make them a hypocrite.

To the people who are blaming people who watched subbed on the internet welll this goes for me anyways if I watch it subbed and like it I will mostly like buy it. I watched a few episodes of Kyo Kara Maoh subbed, and then I bought that in english because I liked it. Most of my money though goes to manga ^^; Too bad about Geneon though sad
