Welcome to Gaia! ::

Such a sad faith for anime... crying
DrDeath in Despair
Well, people pirate and steal insted of buying the DVDs, so the companies go out of buisness.
you wanna know what fixes that? more stores that sell anime >.>
Well if you base it on the vibe you get from Gaia then it's all really about cartoon sex these days. American audiences aren't mature enough for anime and have become fixated on something that is causing anime in the US to collapse in on itself. It's all predictable now.
I wish that Geneon would have finished the series that they were working on before they pulled out. My friend's unfinished Hellsing Ultimate, Higurashi no Naku, and others look pretty lonely uncompleted. I was going to start buying Karen, but... oh, well. emo I wonder if someone is going to take over the licensing or are these titles staying in limbo?

Heads up people! I just heard that some of the american anime companies are closing their businesses, which means that there will be less shows in the future! gonk Geneon America and Newtype USA have already announced that they will no longer continue. And I myself have noticed that they are less animated shows and more and more computer animation.. confused I hope this downfall doesn't last long... I like anime... cry

The reason for this is because so many are downloading there Anime from the internet instead of buying it.
We all know this. Anyway Newtype USA technically did not die, it just got reformatted into a general entertainment magazine so that it has a broader audience.

As dumb as that sounds I hate to say that that's actually the case with many fans. They think companies like Geneon are what ruined anime and are happy to see them dead.

I would happily contribute to the Anime companies if I weren't broke and in college. I don't want people to be out of a job. The gov't is giving me money for school but taking it away at the same time. America is not doing so good when it comes to economy right now. sad
i have an idea~
we all move to Japan. sweatdrop
I get my anime movies from the Philippines since the movies are so expensive in America. >>;

Well... Market-wise, most American companies think that if it's a good series, then they can make money by simply making a DVD with only two to three episodes. That strategy would have worked a few years back. But with access of Downloading from the internet and having decent to excellent quality in Anime, the importance of buy your favorite series through a retail store has lost it's value.

I'm one of the few that back in the day, there was no internet available. We had to buy fansubs through VHS tapes (LOL yup tapes) Old-skool'ers had to look to see what generations the copy was to find the quality in that; 1st gen is from the laser disc, 2nd gen is from 1st copy of the tape, etc. Dowloading anime from the internet is a blessing.

Needless to say, if anyone wants a certain series placed on a good quality DVD, I recommend to support your Anime. If I like a series that much, i'll actually buy the DVD sets for it. But i'm also nit picky, so it's an Anime that I can watch over and over again to consider it valuable in my perspective.
I wish people wouldn't pirate anime. Why do that when you could wacth it on tv or buy it!! I mean being poor myself I understand the money issue like right now I'm using my school's computer because we can't afford the internet, get a job, do some odd jobs, be good and get an allowence do something except steal it so the companies won't lose money and have to shut down cause they went bankrupt!!!!!!
I mean why would you want to do something like that and make everyone else suffer!!

P.S
I use to do this kind of stuff but I started doing odd jobs and now thanks to some good conections with an old friend (not some drug conections etheir) I am getting a job that pays like 2000 to maybe 15000 dollars a day so I can buy anime and manga!! So nobody can say back at you!! *falls over from the ranting strain*

eeeh, I doubt it, lately the American economy has been slowing down so EVERYONE'S getting hit....But still,look how far anime and manga have succeded in the US in such a short time, especially with the low level of quality american animation has had over the last several years (NOTE:There HAVE been some good american cartoons,but the majority has been...well,really weak xp )

I think we'll see more american/japanese hybrid animation in the future, as long as people buy and watch anime and read manga, there's no real reason to panic just yet... heart
