Welcome to Gaia! ::

This is what happens when people refuse to pay for their anime. I feel sorry for the companies, times are getting hard and it sucks that those people probably got laid off.
hmmm i dont know about that, the population of anime fans grow each year meaning anime is actually growing

The number of fans may be growing, but the number of people who actually purchase anime isn't.

The number of anime fans are growing, but most of those fans watch anime on the Internet and don't buy their anime.

So that means sales are down for the American licensing companies, and if sales are down in America, Japan gets less money, less money means lower budget, and lower budget means mediocre anime like Naruto and milking mediocre anime in an attempt to make money.

It's a cycle of suck.
its probably cuz more and more people watch anime on the internet now cuz they can watch it anytime and in any order. i doubt they care about the tv anime companies.
Its only gonna get worse from here with the declining American economy.

Prepare for more companies to follow Geneon's path.
first of all, don't watch anime on internet? well, then dont sell the dvd's to fraking high! I wanna be an animator and i understand the point that you work hard to get so little money since they are pirating....oh, but then well, what about the figurines, plushies, shirts, songs etc. where does all that money go? they get paid for other companies paying for copyright! i'm an anime freak and i'm not against anime, i dont hate it, i'll never do! but it is wrong that they whine about it, because i bet they can get the boxes of their favorite old school anime shows, because they have money! our society that just has internet, promotes the shows by being watched and telling the comunity how great an anime is...

i understand their side, but if they serve the comunity, care for it and dont let them down!!!!

especially with the low level of quality american animation has had over the last several years (NOTE:There HAVE been some good american cartoons, but the majority has been...well,really weak xp )
'

Uh, what?

There is no low level of quality in American animation. It's been the way it has been for decades now.
no dont die anime rockssssss its the best with out it the world is silence cry
Alright lesson time kids.

Geneon closed because they were stupid and licensed mainly niche titles where as Funimation and ADV like to beat dead horses...deader by releasing over and over their super sellers while getting more super sellers. Bandai will soon be laughing as they take your money and souls by making you their soon to be super seller crap such as Code Geass, Gurren Lagann and Gundam 00.

Newtype USA closed because ADV liked to put their stuff in it mainly as ADV owned NT USA. It's already been replaced by a different magazine. NT JP by comparison of NT USA is at least 1000x better because they actually release new content and better goodies than NT USA ever did.

Last off economy in the US blows right now.
As much as I enjoyed reading Newtype USA from time to time it got it was just too expensive to buy off the newstand or subscribe to in my oppinion for casual readers.

And I heard a new magazine replaced it so there isn't anything to worry about I guess.

course it's going to be in high price they have to import it and then translate it for Americans and other countries also your paying all the producers, voice actors (Japanese and American), translators etc. and they have to pay for stuff too and if they lowered the price all the people involved with making the anime won't get enough money and if that happens...well we may not ever know what happened to poor old Shika trapped in a well with flesh eating moss and if Meo come to save he's sorry a** or slept with the vampire/wolf-man will never know cuz some of us wanted the prices to be "slightly lower"

Don't get me wrong I understand not being able to buy anime dvds, but if you want to be an animator you gotta understand on how companies work if there not getting a lot of money then you don't get a lot of money which would suck
Isn't all this irony just ******** delicious? lol

well, I just meant that I've seen a lot of crap on the airwaves....but there's good stuff too.... heart
^Same as anime and every other media. There's "treasure" out there, but you have to get through the "trash" first.
