Heads up people! I just heard that some of the american anime companies are closing their businesses, which means that there will be less shows in the future! gonk Geneon America and Newtype USA have already announced that they will no longer continue. And I myself have noticed that they are less animated shows and more and more computer animation.. confused I hope this downfall doesn't last long... I like anime... cry

Well, people pirate and steal insted of buying the DVDs, so the companies go out of buisness.

if more and more people keep watching anime on the internet then most of the anime companies would shut down due to the lack of money their making and if alot of people watch anime on the computer in japan and not alot of people buying the anime items then y can just say goodbye to anime

eeeh, I doubt it, lately the American economy has been slowing down so EVERYONE'S getting hit....But still, look how far anime and manga have succeded in the US in such a short time, especially with the low level of quality american animation has had over the last several years (NOTE:There HAVE been some good american cartoons, but the majority has been...well,really weak xp )

I think we'll see more american/japanese hybrid animation in the future, as long as people buy and watch anime and read manga, there's no real reason to panic just yet... heart

Someone once told me that with every awkward silence a gay baby was born, my response was p***s......Hello gay baby!
Newtype USA is part of ADV and did not fall they had to change it. ADV has another anime magazine out.

The anime market was over saturated. I am not surprised by the fall of a couple of companies.

That route of action is actually to blame.
This is happening because people pirate anime online.

Terrifying, amirite, Simon? Kamina? xd

Then we shall die with it!

Geneon's misfortune was a matter of bad business with ADV and NewType... well if they were still charging the $95 fee for a year long subscription then its no wonder they went under like they did. As awesome as NewType was the fact of the matter was that it was just too expensive a publication to put out with so few subscriptions.

Well, I hope anime doesn't leave America, there would be Fangirls/ Fanboys/ Otaku's coming out from the shadows murdering people xD. Well the only other advice I can give is Move to Japan.

Anime's not dying. Lots of series are still being licensed and stuff.

A company is bound to go down after a while. Pity, though, Geneon was my favorite dubbing company...

Yeah but most, if not all of them, are fan-subbed. And with that continued on the people who are watching them are probably not buying the dvds, which is not fair to the companies. That causes good companies like Geneon to close down, which is again: not fair.
I don't really mind about Newtype, though. The reviews, updates, and news were a bit old and there wasn't anything "new" about it. I'd rather buy Anime Insider because of the price and better stuff they offer.

I don't think anime is going to die out though...Not yet anyways...(JK)

Geneon was actually a full force Anime Company, Geneon studios is a branch of Pioneer and it used to be Pioneer AIC. So Geneon US handled all the dubbing of shows produced by Geneon JP, distribution and even merchandising.

Geneon was one big bad MoFo... shame what happened though.
