... and a shota drag pirate.
Yes, I've recently finished Kuroshitsuji and felt the urge to talk about it in the privacy of my own thread. Though I use the term "privacy" lightly, as it's quite public after all. That said, let me entertain you with a little story regarding Kuroshitsuji and Wikipedia...
I usually look up a series I intend to start on Wikipedia to get the gist of it. I know it's a great way to spoil plot points for yourself, and I'll get to those in a minute, but this is what I found most interesting:
Wikipedia said the demographic of this series was shonen.
Shonen? Are you joking? A series about an angst-ridden, girly-looking boy on the path of revenge, where I'd say over 50% of the rest of the male cast is incredibly feminine-looking, working with a tall, dark, and handsome butler, who fends off the advances of Grell (Grell is Grell, no description is necessary), while a gender-swapping pretty-boy angel butler threatens to burn London down to the ground, occasionally under the guise of a maid... I... I don't even know where this is going, I must be honest. Up until then, I never payed much attention to people saying Wikipedia isn't accurate, but now I'm certain that they weren't lying.
But even so, I didn't find it to be as bad of a series as I thought it was at first. And I must admit that Sebastian was an entertaining character to watch. And going back to the plot twists and such, this was one of the series that I actually guessed everything on my own, and didn't read any spoilers by accident. I had a feeling that Ash and Angela were the same person, I had a feeling that the Queen would be nutcase, and I had a feeling that Pluto would somehow be used against Ciel. The only hunch I was wrong on was thinking that the Undertaker was Ciel's father, since they both had a massive scar on the side of their faces.
So! Kuroshitsuji thread, with spoons and points to ponder!
- Sebastian for the gals, Angela for the fellows?
- Grell is gay, or just trying too hard to stand out?
- London being ruled by a deranged Frankenloli
- Historical accuracy (I'm sure.)
- The portrayal of Shinigami as business people, as opposed to Super Saiyans with giant swords, fruit-addicted monsters, or the conventional hooded figure with a scythe
- Things that stood out to you, things that you found boring
- Sebastian's true form
