Wasn't Yu-Gi-Oh originally supposed to center around Yo-yo battles, and not a card game? I think I remember my friend telling me that.

I don't know about the yo-yo, but the original YGO was very dark and didn't even have card games. It focused more on Yami Yugi being a d**k and punishing everybody.When I was younger (13) and bought the first two manga I was blown away about it. It was really adult they talked about porn, love interests and yes Yami was very scary in this verison. I liked it better the middle school verison when they introduced cards in the 3rd manga It was like they changed direction kind of a WTF? cry

As much as I hate 4kids I have to admit I begrudgingly love the dub of early Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Of course things were toned town and altered for the kids but Yu-Gi-Oh honestly didn't seem that bad compared to how shall I say One Piece? I bet most people remember that blunder. I actually really love the dub of Yu-Gi-Oh and think it has superior voices to the original Japanese. Especially the voice of Atem/The Pharaoh. That guy is brilliant and I am sad to see him mostly in 4kids work. Now if all this goes through and Saban ends up with Yu-Gi-Oh they must do one thing. RELEASE DAMN DVD BOX SETS SO I CAN WATCH IT ALL OVER AGAIN!

It focused on Yami Yugi playing random games and always winning even if the opponent cheated and once he won, he'd punish them in the most a*****e way possible in relation to their behavior/what the game was about.
Like making some escaped con set himself on fire while the guy was pouring vodka by placing the guy's lighter on his hand during a game where they could only move one finger.
Or having the face of a bitchy teacher who wore too much makeup break away to reveal her true, ugly face.
Or making the money grubbing bully think he just had like a knee-high pile of money when all it was was just leaves.
One arc/episode/chapter/whatever in particular dealt with a gang using yo-yos as weapons.
