I have heard before that it was an adult show. I would believe it, not because it is inappropriate for youngsters but because alot of the humor is too advanced for them. I think what they're doing is intentionally adding a certain kind of humor that only older people can grasp. They know alot of parents will sit and watch tv with their kids, and there's really nothing more annoying than a mindless kid's cartoon. So they aim some at the parents. As far as the show having inappropriate jokes, I don't think any of them are that bad. For example, bikini bottom isn't something 'not meant for children's ears'. Everyone, kids espescially think that peoples private areas are funny.
