There ain't no party like my nanas tea party!
I looked at the imdb page for it and the pictures they have up are RIDICULOUS.

Zuko doesn't even have a scar.
Aang doesn't have the arrow markings.

Its fail.
Horrible fail.
Heyyy, hoooo--!

Um, yes they do? Maybe you should look at some other photos. Aang does have an arrow, but it seems to be a bunch of symbols put into a shape (not solid blue). And Zuko's scar is more "natural"-looking, not just a huge red flame. I don't think it would have been good if they'd imitated Zuko's scar exactly as in the show. A timeless example: The Ember Island Players. It would never work (;
I'm waiting until I see it to make an opinion. I'm kind of excited, but at the same time I REALLY hope it doesn't turn out the way the Dragonball movie turned out. I'm so glad they recast Zuko instead of having that f** Jesse McCartney play him. wtf.

Not to super hate on this film. This just an observation. I didn't see the third picture, so I thought there wasn't a scar. However, I just saw the scar. It's really poorly done. Considering Zuko gets hit straight on in the face with fire his burns would be much more severe. Also, he wouldn't still have an eyebrow. In fact, it doesn't really look like he was burned at all.
I do not have a problem with the movie because of the costuming and make up. This is just an obvservation.

D:
The movie previews look splendid...
I do not see how you can negatively review it when it is not even out, nor does it come out until next year.
We all might have to change our opinions of the movie after 7:00p.m. tonight because entertainment tonight will show the trailer. I watched the sneek peek of today's episode and they showed some footage of Aang doing some moves. I have to say that it was pretty impressive. He has the staff and in the short footage that was shown you see him do one airbending move and you can clearly se the arrow. Check it out and watch tonight at 7:00P.M. on cbs entertainment tonight.
Aang looks really pudgy in the shot. I mean, I get that he's twelve and all, but he's a chubby twelve year old. xd
The reason a lot of people don't like this movie isn't going to change because of a good trailer. Sorry.

I don't think it's THAT offensive,
but if something offends me, I try to ignore it.
If the ratings turn out at least decently, I'll go see it,
but even if I don't, I'll just pick up tickets to another movie.
And principles? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but what principles are you talking about?
The fact that it's live action? Or something else? User Image
It's true that some things look better in certain forms, but I don't think it's really that bad.
If it makes anyone feel better, think of the movie of a parallel dimension avatar, sounds dumb,
but it works for me. User Image

Have you been reading the posts in this thread. The principle isn't at all that it's live action. That would be a silly reason to cause such a huge problem like the one this movie faces. Try to keep up. The problem is Hollywood's unwillingness to acknowledge actors of color repeatedly. When they cast this movie, they weren't looking for minority actors to fill minority roles (you can argue they are a cartoon and look white all you want, but some characters such as Katara and Sokka are obviously not), they specifically asked for Caucasian or white actors.

Oh. Sorry if I offended you. : ( I probably shouldn't ever have asked.
I heard something about a racial issue, but I didn't know it was that bad.
I get it now. That is offensive, they specifically asked for a certain race?
Despite how they look in the show.
*sigh* Oh well, hopefully in any sort of possible future re-make, there will be a better cast list.

At first I couldn't stand the idea of M.Night making this movie cuz I knew it would be terrible. Then I saw the pictures and I started to have hope for the movie. Now that I have seen the trailer I have to say that M.Night has outdone himself with this movie and it might be the first good movie that he has made in a while. Yes Aang is chubby, but at least he looks like his character unlike some people(Justin Chatwin). The arrow may not be blue, but at least he has one and you can see it.If you want a list of the ups and downs then here they are:

Ups:
1.Aang has an arrow
2.Aang has a staff
3.Noah Ringer(Aang)and Dev Patel(Zuko)both have a history in martial arts
4.Special effects are good

Downs:
1.The arrow isn't blue(this isn't that much of a bad thing, just as long as it glows blue when he goes into the avatar state)

Sadly, only when the Earth kingdom is portayed as a Black/African nation will the full severity of racebending and Hollywood's racefail be taken seriously.... because we all know how people feel about Blacks in their media.

For real. When I first found that out I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Omigod I just saw the trailer of it! Aang has a baby face awwwww!

That's true. Zuko has a squinty eye (that can't produce tears), a wrinkly ear, and no eyebrow. I'm sure the ATLA staff people had to do research into how the scar would look.

Maybe in the movie version, Dev wasn't hit full in the face? It's possible that movie!Ozai burned him in a different way.

I'm sure different burns heal differently on different people. Who knows (well, I'm sure someone knows, but I don't ;P)?

That's a poor list of ups and downs. Especially the downs.

Also, Dragonball Evolution, which everyone is down on, Goku was an alien! They did have some bad choices considering Master Roshi wasn't bald, but TLA is on a whole other plane of fail. DE had two white people and it was considered a huge fail, but Goku is an alien and I always thought Bulma was white anyway. I can deal with DE because Toriyama himself liked the movie and helped with it.

TLA is a huge fail because almost none of the main characters look like what they are supposed to. At least DE actually found Asians actors to portray most of the important characters.

Sadly, there won't be. So, you kind of hope they just end at one.
sorry guys, i bear bad news.
there will be three movies, one for each season.
that's why toph hasn't been cast.

i agree to an extent with both sides, but more with the hate train side.

The only casting that really offends me is Katara and Sokka being white. There is absolutely no way you could identify them as anything other than Inuit.
