Kind Friend

Actually, in the book version that I have, the riddle is answered by Carroll himself:

"Because it can produce very few notes, though they are very flat; And it's never put with the wrong end in front!"

He did intentionally leave that riddle to be unanswered, but many people spoke with him about this, and, he admiteed that was why a Raven was like a Writing Desk. 3nodding

I never knew the riddle had an answer...

Though, I only have a vintage edition of the book and, thus, no extra tidbits!

Whats your answer?

I think someone told me a long time ago that the reason why the raven is like a writing desk was that both had wings. The old writing desks back in Lewis Carroll's time some had wings carved on them (I think that might have been it, I heard it years ago sweatdrop )

Lol, there is actually an answer to this riddle.
It's, "Because there's a B in both and an N in neither."
Do you get it?
I do, it makes sense because in wonderland everything's opposite, topsy-turvy and things don't make sense there, so logically the answer to that riddle has to NOT make sense, and that's the correct answer.
I've tried to think of the answer myself... and everything went blank. Well, at least I didn't get nuts. I don't even know the difference between a crow and a raven. xp

ok, i found 3 answers.
1: "Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is never put with the wrong end in front."

2: "Because there's a 'B' in 'both,' and because there's an 'N' in 'neither,'"

3: "Poe wrote on both."

A raven is like a writing desk because you can't ride either like a bicycle, obviously.
(go check out a rp called "~Star Circus Rp~ Open and Accepting" cat_whee )
it just didn't make sense to me sorry. and what the hell does a raven have to do with a writing desk.
