it should have been Muller... not only does he score, hes makes plays himself and creates plays for others... best player should not be dependent on goals scored but rather full retrospective of performance and Muller was doin it all

I haven't watched enough of the World Cup or know enough about soccer to determine who played the best, but there was so much hype about this World Cup being Messi's and so his playing just underwhelmed me. I still think he's a great player and person, but just wish he played better this time.
I think Messi is one of the best players but this tournament wasn't his best. There were times when he could have bursted with amazingness and he didn't! He may be really tired and has so much pressure!

The problem with messi is that in final game vs Germany, when he took the free kick, he shouldn't have tried to just take the shot. He needed to cross it. At least then Argentina would have had a chance. Instead he over shot it by a mile. However with that all said he is still a talented player just made some wrong choices.
I think for the final game, I was waiting for him to shine and a few moments, I thought he had but he messed up in the scoring! Anyways, a good player!
