Relationship between a Sexual and Asexual; possible?

Ok; so here is the situation:

You are someone who wouldn't mind sex, but have particular views that you really want to find in a girl. Well, you finally meet one *or a guy if you are a girl or bi or gay.

turns out that they never want to have sex though. They are a perfect match for you though; they share all your values and beliefs.
My question is: stay with them and sacrifice sex? or break up with them for that reason? I am kinda in such a situation and plan on staying in...I want your opinions too.



*they still kiss and cuddle
EDIT: I have decided to stick with this relationship, but still really want your views on the subject.
EDIT#2:Guyyyyyyyys! This thread won't keep itself alive; please leave a comment. Maybe even describe alternate activities you yourself participate in during the times other couples are having sex.

like:

watching a movie
taking night walks
photography
going out to eat
etc...

Unless you're asexual, sex plays a fairly sizable role in all healthy, adult relationships that you get in. Given that I am NOT asexual, no, I would not choose to stay in a relationship with someone who was. I would be their best friend, though.

Probably not a flown blown mental disorder, but it could cause some major stress. You also never know if the person will eventually open to sex. A lot of people use the excuse of asexuality by saying they are not interested in sex; if the person were truly asexual, chances are, they would not even be interested in pursuing a romantic relationship. I say try it out, it's not like you can't break it off and remain friends if it doesn't work out.

I must assume that your young, say around 18 or maybe less. Most asexual people make great friends, but have a hard time in long term committed monogamous relationships.

The first question that you must ask your self, IMHO would be why is this person asexual?

I think that will shed a great deal of light on your choice. Being sexual is a major part of a health partnership, no matter what your sexual preference might be.

I just have always felt that seeking pleasure for this thing in my pants seems a bit greedy...I'm thinking I can go without but I just don't know. She's a rare find, matches up with my views (even a vegetarian like me!) but...I wonder if she would dump me if she just could tell somehow that I was feeling bad...you know b/c as they all say "it's best for me"

Being asexual is sort of viewed by the general populace as a mental disorder.

ya; 18 going on 19 and dead serious when I say I am crushingly lonely. I don't know why she is; she says she gets aroused but not as much as to want to perform sex. idk what to make of the situation; btw I love your sig.
