I really really love this program. C: Though I can only compare it to photoshop elements 3.0 >w<
I was using the trial for months before they started charging, and bought it the instant my trial ran out. P:

In my opinion Sai is much better suited for art than photoshop. Lineart is much easier to create and your not constantly fighting with the opacity setting to get blended colors.
However I do find myself opening up photoshop sometimes. Sai has very few filters and effects.
One of my favorite features that I know photoshop doesn't have is the ability to instantly rotate or flip the canvas without modifying the file. That proves VERY handy for those of us who are lineart challenged. :C And the instant mirror image button is wonderful for pointing out your flaws before you start to go into detail.

Much love for Sai. <3

"LovexHolic"
just wondering, is the fan english translation version of SAI free?
There are free versions out there, but they're hard to find as... well.. it's illegal. It's not a very expensive program.

I personally love SAI, but I find it a little lacking. It has a few things that OC doesn't, but otherwise I find it very similar to OC and the controls are a bit more finicky.

(see profile for art shop)
i personally love Paint Tool Sai for quick sketches and watercolor art. I'm not a pro but based on experience, Paint Tool Sai's pen tool is sooo much better than Photoshop's.
Yes it doesn't have the filters and everything but this is mainly a drawing program. I never really liked opencanvas eventhough people say Paint Tool Sai's almost like it. Just download the free trial (English or Japanese - there's no free version). Plus it's only more or less like US$50 - compared to Photoshop.

do me & i do you.
coz i'm a HIT&RUN WHORE like that.
plus, surprise art is <3. =}

I use SYSTEMAX Sai very heavily - basically I find it very similar to openCanvas, but with some capabilities of Photoshop and Painter. whee I like both Sai and Photoshop very much, but use Sai more extensively than Photoshop lately. @__@;

Photoshop is a little bit too resource consuming for me. sweatdrop I can't keep it open for long hours, especially with many layers because it lags my machine like crazy. Sai on the other hand, seems to be more stable in my system. 3nodding

I adore Sai... I think I could marry it.

Sai is the greatest media for the lineart happy people. The ink-tool is so sharp, perfect and it does what I want it to do while photoshop on the other hand as lines that still look blurred... I always have to make the files 400% bigger so the lines can look sharper. It's a pain honestly. I adored coloring with the acrylic paint tool and have fun with the marker tool as well. The pen-tool, if I make the setting right, makes me sometimes think of Paint-chat pen-tool which I absolutely love for sketching.

Sai doesn't have all those filters Photoshop does, nor does it have screen tones and fancy brushes, but for me sai is enough.

*sniffles* too bad my trial ran out.

Sometimes is all the time...

You can create your own screen tones and brushes. But it's a pain to "install". And by brushes, i don't mean stamp brushes.
The English fansite has a pack where you just put the stuff you want in their appropriate folders and run a launcher. Pretty nifty though i never tried it. =]

...and never means maybe.

Such a paradox, isn't it?
