Free Rice
How to play

* Click on the answer that best defines the word.
* If you get it right, you get a harder word. If wrong, you get an easier word.
* For each word you get right, we donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program.

Please just check this place out and help feed people by just doing some quick vocabulary!

You couldn't get a clue, even during the clue mating season in a field full of horny clues, even if you smeared your body with clue musk and did the clue mating dance.
Where on earth are you from?
Me from England!

That site seems rather f'ed up. I mean that literally as in very sick and twisted.

This organization has food they can donate to starving children. And what do they decide to do with it? Turn it into a game. I mean, people's lives are at stake here, people are starving, yet they turn it into a huge game.

Instead of giving the rice they have to the starving people, they decide to turn it into a game where based on if you get the word right, they donate the rice. Otherwise, if you fail, they just sit back and let the starving people starve to death.

How about they just donate all the rice they have? Why play games with people's lives like this? Don't they see how rather messed up that is? I mean, it sounds like a good idea. A good idea for the people playing it. I mean, the people playing the game have good intentions. However, if you look at the organization doing this, you really have to think... why the hell are they holding back food just to make some internet game for people to play? For what? Site revenue? I mean what kind of sick, twisted tactic is that? They could donate all the rice they have, but nooo. let's turn it into a word game and leave it all up to people on the internet to decide the fate of people starving in this world.

I think they need to keep you around the site so they can make money from their sponsors with banner views and stuff. So the vocab thing is to attract you and make you stick around.

They need the money from the sponsors that they show you when you play. It's also trying to build vocabulary for people since there is a large amount of people who are uneducated out there and it helps them build it.
They don't just have all of this rice lying around. They buy it, using the money that they get from sponsors that advertise on their site. And they need the game so that people will come to the site because they think that they are doing good for the world, which they are. So, it wouldn't exist without the vocab game. biggrin

I Got Somewhat Up To 2830.

Believe me, the money they get from sponsors can buy a lot more rice than 20 grams. To determine if this rice gets sent to the poor and starving due to people's performance in their game is still pretty messed up any way you look at it.

sure it's not the best way to end hunger. but the sad reality is: people don't care if people in africa starve. this website allows people to learn vocabulary whilst donating food, then they start to care a little. the sponsors don't really care either. all they care about is how many times their banner is seen and donating a few thousand pounds of rice is nothing to them.
sure a few people would want to help end world hunger but have no idea how to start and this website is the perfect way for average people to have a hand in ending world hunger.

I'm hardcore.......>_>
PS: your scene really does suck

Especially when you consider the, uh, limited vocabulary people on Gaia possess.

Edit: Pop quiz! Anyone know how much a 100lb bag of rice costs?
